South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has launched a pioneering initiative aimed at creating an inclusive, safe, and dignified workplace for its female employees.
The first bio-toilet for women has been installed at Churcha RO Mines in SECL’s Baikunthpur Area, and was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Shri Satish Chandra Dubey.
Speaking on the occasion, the Hon’ble Minister appreciated SECL’s efforts for its women workforce and stated, “Safe, hygienic, and respectful work environments empower women’s participation, and this forms the true foundation of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat.”
The event was graced by SECL CMD Shri Harish Duhan, Director (Tech/Operations & Planning) Shri N. Franklin Jaykumar, Director (Personnel) Shri Biranchi Das, Director (Finance) Shri D. Sunil Kumar, along with other senior officials.
SECL management shared that this initiative will not remain limited to a single mine. Bio-toilets will be installed in all operational areas in a phased manner to ensure that every field-deployed woman worker is provided with a dignified, adequate, and hygienic workplace.
At SECL, women contribute actively in a wide range of roles — from mining to technical and administrative functions. In such a scenario, this initiative stands as a significant and inspiring step toward safeguarding their dignity, health, and workplace convenience.
