RINL has been in the forefront in energy efficiency movement since inception and has been demonstrating its supremacy in conservation of energy year after year, observed Sri Atul Bhatt, CMD, RINL at the valedictory function of Energy Conservation Fortnight celebrations held in connection with the National Energy Conservation Day at the Learning & Development center at Visakhapatnam steel plant, today. Speaking on the occasion, Sri Atul Bhatt, said that. RINL Installed State of Art Cleaner technologies in the design stage itself such as Coke Dry Quenching, BF Top Pressure Recovery, LD Gas recovery, Waste heat recovery systems in various combustion systems, Continuous Casting in place of Steel Ingots in Steel Making. These technologies contributed for reducing specific energy consumption in the design stage itself. “It gives me immense pleasure to note that RINL has been awarded the prestigious National Energy Leader award four times in a row by CII. It is a rare achievement in any PSU to obtain National Energy Leader Award with such consistency”, Sri Atul Bhatt said. “The employees of RINL have great potential to excel and I am very confident that, with the commitment of all employees and unions, RINL will excel beyond expectations and achieve benchmarks in energy consumption in the Steel Industry”, Sri Atul Bhatt added. Sri Atul Bhatt congratulated all the prize winners and (Energy Management Department (EMD) for successfully organising Energy Conservation Week. As part of the celebration, EMD department of Visakhapatnam steel plant conducted various awareness programmes for school children and employees of VSP and over 3200 persons participated in various Energy awareness campaigns. Energy Awareness program conducted in various departments and schools. Energy quiz competitions conducted for executives and non-executives and school children and Essay writing competitions were conducted in three languages on "Environment lifestyle", for employees & school students. Directors of RINL, CGM (Works) I/c, Chief General Managers, heads of departments, representatives of Steel Executive Association, trade unions, SC&ST, OBC association and large number of employees and school children were also present on the occasion. Sri Atul Bhatt and Directors of RINL gave away the prizes to the winners of various competitions organized for the employees and school children to mark the occasion. Earlier, Sri K. Sudhakar, GM(Operations), EMD Department in his welcome address highlighted the various initiatives undertaken for energy conservation in the plant.
