Shri Sanjay Kulshreshta, CMD, HUDCO, chaired the valedictory session of the ITEC programme, on the theme ‘Low Carbon Urban Infrastructure Development and Financing’, organized by HUDCO's Research and Training Wing, the Human Settlement Management Institute (HSMI). This edition of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme, sponsored by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, brought together 24 urban development professionals from 14 countries, including Ecuador, Ethiopia, Fiji, Ghana, Indonesia, Kenya, Laos, Morocco, Nigeria, Panama, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Uzbekistan, and Zimbabwe. During the two-week training program from January 15-28, 2025, the participants deliberated on strategies for developing low-carbon urban infrastructure and innovative financing mechanisms while promoting international collaboration for sustainable urban growth. The program included a mix of technical sessions and field visits, providing participants with a hands-on understanding of topics such as green buildings, effective public transport systems, low-carbon solid waste management, water conservation, rainwater harvesting, rejuvenation of water sources, afforestation, public-private partnerships (PPP) for infrastructure development, and financing mechanisms like Carbon and Green Bonds. Distinguished speakers from academia, public and private sectors contributed to the program. In addition to technical knowledge, participants were also introduced to India’s rich cultural heritage.
