As part of its corporate social responsibility, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), one of India’s premier container handling Ports, commenced a vocational training program for women in collaboration with Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS). The vocational training
program was inaugurated today by Shri Sanjay Sethi, IAS,Chairman in the presence of Shri Unmesh Sharad Wagh, IRS, Deputy Chairman, JNPT and HODs at Gram Panchayat, Navin Sheva. JNPT, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Fund, had approved a grant of 50 Lakhs to conduct Skill Development Trainings for 1000 Beneficiaries in the Raigad district. The three- month-long vocational training program will focus on skill development and equipping women with occupational skills that will further facilitate them in entering the mainstream. The courses chosen encompass skills like Beauty Culture and Health Care, Helpers for Nursing Homes,
Sanitary Pad making, Vegetable and Fish Drying, Warli Painting, Aggarbatti Packing, etc. JNPT is a socially conscious organization that recognizes its roles, responsibilities, and duties towards empowering the marginalized communities in the region. Speaking at the
inauguration Shri Sanjay Sethi, IAS, Chairman, JNPT, said, “Through our CSR initiatives, we are committed to serving our extended family in the region. With this training program, we aim at equipping women with skill-sets that can open up an array of employment opportunities at the village level, further aiding them in income generation. We are certain that this vocational program will not just promote skill development training for women, but also facilitate them in enhancing their personality, further helping them build their self-confidence too.”
