NBCC (India) Limited, the leading public sector enterprise in construction and project management, has been entrusted with the project management consultancy (PMC) work by BIS for the development of new office spaces, laboratories, and other infrastructure facilities across five key locations in the country. In this context, an MoU was signed by Shri Sanjay Pant, Dy. Director General, BIS and Shri S.K. Pandey, CGM (Engg.), NBCC in the presence of Shri Saleem Ahmad, Director (Projects), NBCC and other senior officials of NBCC and BIS. The estimated cost of the project is over ₹500 Crore. The work will be carried out in phases, with careful planning and execution to ensure that operations of BIS continue seamlessly during the construction process. The project is aimed to be executed with an emphasis on quality, sustainability, and efficiency.
Key Locations and Scope of Work:
The project encompasses the construction of new office spaces and laboratories, along with the demolition and redevelopment of existing structures, across the following locations:
1. Sahibabad, Ghaziabad (U.P.) – Construction of new office space and laboratory facilities.
2. Bengaluru (Karnataka) – Demolition of the existing old branch office, followed by the construction of a new branch office and laboratory.
3. Manak Bhawan, New Delhi – Demolition of staff quarters and construction of new office space at BIS Headquarters.
4. National Institute of Training for Standardization, Noida (U.P.) – Expansion of the existing auditorium and construction of new interiors.
5. Northern Regional Laboratory, Mohali (Punjab) – Relocation of existing temporary structures and construction of new office space.
In addition to the above, NBCC will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the infrastructure requirements for the expansion of BIS’s existing office and laboratory facilities. The development will be carried out with the maximum possible Floor Area Ratio (FAR) available within the respective land parcels.
