NBCC to execute the construction of Eklavya Model Residential Schools in Chhattisgarh

NBCC has been entrusted with the construction of Eklavya Model Residential Schools across various locations in Chhattisgarh. The project, awarded by the Department of Tribal and Scheduled Caste Development, Government of Chhattisgarh, is valued at approximately Rs 459.60 crore.

 

The initiative aims to bolster the educational infrastructure for tribal communities in Chhattisgarh, fostering an inclusive environment for holistic development. The schools will be established at strategically identified locations, including Bastar (Lohandiguda, Darbha, Bastanar), Sukma (Chhindgarh), Dantewada (Geedam, Katekalyan), Narayanpur (Orchha), Rajnandgaon (Mohla) and Jashpur (Jashpur, Manora).

 

The Eklavya Model Residential Schools will comprise state-of-the-art facilities designed to provide a conducive learning environment. Each school will feature modern classrooms and amenities, along with separate hostels for boys and girls, each equipped with warden residences. Additional facilities include kitchen and dining spaces, guest houses for visitors, residences for principals, staff quarters in Type III and Type II categories and pump rooms to support water infrastructure. These features aim to ensure a holistic and supportive environment for students and staff alike.

 

In line with NBCC’s commitment to sustainable development, the project incorporates various eco-friendly elements. Recharge pits will be installed to enhance groundwater levels, while solar power plants and solar water heaters will promote renewable energy usage. Kitchen waste disposal units and compost pits will address waste management needs, complemented by strategically placed dustbins for proper waste segregation. Solar street lights will be installed to minimize the carbon footprint and rainwater harvesting systems, along with storm water drainage networks will be implemented to manage water resources efficiently. The schools would also feature an eco-friendly sewage system.
