Shri K.P. Mahadevaswamy, Chairman and Managing Director, NBCC (India) Ltd., addressed the International Labour Conference Plenary Session at the International Labour Organization, Geneva, as the Indian Employer Delegate on 9.06.2025.
In his address to the esteemed assembly comprising the Chairperson, Vice President, Director-General and global delegates, Shri Mahadevaswamy conveyed greetings on behalf of the employers of India. He appreciated the efforts of the ILO in organizing the 113th session of the ILC and lauded the Director-General’s report titled “Jobs, Rights and Growth: Reinforcing the Connection” as timely and insightful, especially in today’s fast-evolving global scenario.
He emphasized the growing importance of building a resilient and inclusive ecosystem that supports job creation, entrepreneurship, worker welfare and innovation. In a world increasingly defined by disruption and transition, he underscored that inclusive social dialogue, social security and continuous skilling are key to shaping a just and future-ready world of work.
Highlighting India's proactive and holistic approach as the fourth-largest economy globally, he noted that the Indian Government has undertaken several flagship initiatives to promote employment generation, empower the informal workforce and strengthen social protection mechanisms. He also drew attention to India’s legislative reforms aimed at simplifying labour laws, increasing transparency and extending social security coverage to gig and platform workers.
Shri Mahadevaswamy stressed that employment must be sustainable and meaningful, which is why India continues to invest in human capital through the Skill India Mission. This mission, driven in partnership with industry, is equipping the country’s youth with future-ready, market-relevant skills.
He affirmed that Indian employers are committed to fostering responsible growth and decent work standards while ensuring worker well-being, competitiveness and global collaboration. Echoing India’s timeless philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – The world is one family,” Shri Mahadevaswamy concluded with a call for global unity, peace and cooperation, asserting that the path to a balanced socio-economic world lies in reinforcing the interrelation between jobs, rights and growth.
