The meeting was part of a series of sensitisation interactions chaired by the Union Health Minister with Members of Parliament from states across the country, including West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and others. Shri Nadda informed the Members that similar consultations have been held with MPs from other States as well, as part of the Government's whole-of-government approach to accelerate TB elimination.

The meeting reviewed the progress made under the 100-Day TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, implemented in two phases to accelerate India's efforts towards TB elimination. The first phase, launched on 7^th December 2024, initially covered 347 high-priority districts before being expanded nationwide and concluded on 24^th March 2025. The second phase, launched on 24^th March 2026 and recently concluded in July focused on nearly 1.58 lakh high-risk villages and urban wards across the country. The meeting looked at the progress of TB activities in the state and UTs, and discussed the way forward.

Hariyali Amavasya is a festival to express gratitude towards nature

Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that August 12 marks the auspicious occasion of Hariyali Amavasya. He said that behind every festival in our country lies a scientific perspective as well as a message aimed at making life better. Hariyali Amavasya is a festival that provides an opportunity to express gratitude towards nature. The greenery spread across the fields and the hope of a new crop arriving fills the mind with happiness and joy. He said that gratitude towards nature should not be expressed merely through words, but should also be demonstrated through action by planting trees. According to Shri Chouhan, the occasion provides an opportunity for people to recognise the importance of nature and contribute towards its protection through meaningful action. Plantation can therefore become a way of expressing appreciation for the natural environment while also encouraging a sense of responsibility towards its conservation. He called upon people to make this festival a celebration of nature through active participation and by adding more greenery to their surroundings.

Thousands of members of Vriksh Mitra Parivar to plant saplings

Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that members of the Vriksh Mitra Parivar have resolved to celebrate Hariyali Amavasya on August 12 by undertaking plantation drives in their respective villages, cities and panchayats. He said that he himself would also plant saplings in Delhi along with his colleagues on the day. He appealed to the people of the country to make the auspicious occasion of Hariyali Amavasya memorable by planting at least one sapling and contributing towards environmental conservation. He said that the participation of thousands of members of the Vriksh Mitra Parivar across the country would help spread the plantation initiative to different communities and locations. By undertaking plantation drives in villages, cities and panchayats, members will not only add greenery to their surroundings but will also carry forward the message of environmental protection and collective responsibility. Shri Chouhan urged citizens to participate in the initiative with enthusiasm and make plantation a meaningful part of the celebration of Hariyali Amavasya.

Every person should plant one sapling

The Union Minister said that planting a sapling is not merely an act of protecting the environment, but also a way of laying the foundation for a safe, secure and beautiful future for generations to come. He appealed to all Vriksh Mitras and citizens across the country to make sure that they plant at least one tree on August 12, on the occasion of Hariyali Amavasya. At the same time, the Union Minister urged people to add five more persons to their plantation pledge and encouraged each of those five people to further involve five persons each, so that the campaign can reach the maximum possible number of people. He said that this chain of participation can help transform plantation into a peoples movement, with individuals encouraging their families, friends, neighbours and wider communities to participate. He also urged citizens to upload information and photographs of their plantation activities on the website shivrajsinghchouhan.co.in, so that the initiative can become a campaign based on the participation of people from all sections of society.

The proposal is part of Sebi's plan to review and expand the Sebi (Vault Managers) Regulations, 2021, and establish a harmonised vaulting framework for all bullion underlying Sebi-regulated products.

Under the proposed framework, vault managers would cover physical gold, silver and other precious metals underlying Electronic Gold Receipts (EGRs), bullion ETFs, bullion derivatives and any other bullion-related instruments specified by the regulator.

The power generated from the project will be supplied to SECI Limited.  This addition, further strengthens NIRL's renewable energy portfolio.

Yashaswini's posting to East Kameng similarly places her in one of Arunachal Pradesh's administratively demanding districts, where a Deputy Commissioner's responsibilities extend from routine revenue and magisterial functions to coordinating relief and rehabilitation whenever landslides or flash floods, common in the region during the monsoon, disrupt road access to remote villages. Both officers moved into their current Deputy Commissioner charges as part of the routine cadre postings the Ministry of Home Affairs issues for AGMUT officers serving in Arunachal Pradesh, one of three states alongside Goa and Mizoram that draw officers from the joint cadre rather than a dedicated state cadre of their own.

Kandla, on Gujarat's Gulf of Kutch coast, ranks among India's largest major ports by cargo volume and functions as a key gateway for the country's northwestern hinterland, handling bulk commodities, containerised cargo and petroleum products that move through the port's multiple berths and jetties. Growth of this magnitude at a major port typically reflects both expanded berth capacity and stronger throughput in bulk cargo categories such as coal, fertiliser raw materials and edible oil, which form a significant share of Kandla's traffic. The port's catchment extends deep into Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and parts of northern India, making its throughput a useful indicator of industrial and agricultural trade activity across a wide stretch of the country's interior. The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has been pushing major ports including Kandla to accelerate green and sustainability-linked infrastructure alongside capacity expansion, with the port authority having begun site work on an e-methanol production facility as part of the sector's decarbonisation push. Ministry Secretary Vijay Kumar visited the port in December to inaugurate development projects worth 193 crore spanning capacity, efficiency and sustainability initiatives, a visit port officials point to as a marker of the Centre's continued attention to Kandla's expansion plans.

His rise through the agency's headquarters ranks over five years is unusually fast by the standards of the Income Tax cadre, where deputation to the ED typically follows, rather than precedes, a long run in the parent department.

This is not Navin's first tenure extension; his appointment as full Director in 2024 was itself initially set for two years, and the latest one-year extension pushes his tenure beyond his scheduled superannuation date of July 31, 2027. His time at the helm has coincided with several high-profile investigations, including cases connected to former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former Rajya Sabha MP K. Kavitha and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, as well as the 2025 arrest of former UCO Bank chairman Subodh Kumar Goel.

The extension allows the Enforcement Directorate to retain continuity in ongoing investigations under Navin's leadership at a time when the agency continues to expand its caseload across money-laundering and economic offence matters referred by multiple central agencies. Extensions of this kind at the ED's top post have become more frequent in recent years, a pattern officials attribute to the length of time large financial investigations typically take to reach prosecutable stages.

The order, issued August 8, 2026, extends Navin's tenure for one year beyond August 13, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier, according to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet notification. No successor has been named as part of the same order.

The merger folded the IAS, IPS and Indian Forest Service cadres of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir into the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram-Union Territories cadre following the bifurcation of the state into two Union Territories after the abrogation of Article 370. The stated intent behind the merger was to widen the pool of officers available to J&K and Ladakh, both of which faced staffing shortages after the reorganisation, while simultaneously making officers of the erstwhile J&K cadre eligible for posting anywhere within the broader AGMUT structure, including Delhi. The reorganisation also meant AGMUT-origin officers became eligible for postings in J&K and Ladakh for the first time, a two-way arrangement that was meant to even out staffing gaps on both sides.

In practice, officers originally recruited into the J&K cadre are now finding themselves posted out of the territory to Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram or the smaller Union Territories such as the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh or Puducherry, rather than to Delhi the most sought-after posting within the joint cadre by virtue of the exposure and profile it offers. Delhi postings carry particular weight within AGMUT because they place officers closer to Central government ministries and the national media, a visibility that translates into faster empanelment prospects for officers eyeing central deputation later in their careers.

Before the merger, J&K cadre officers served exclusively within the erstwhile state's own administrative and police apparatus, without exposure to postings in Delhi or the northeastern AGMUT states that now form part of their eligible posting universe. That confinement meant few of them had built the kind of Delhi-based networks that officers native to the older AGMUT pool developed over successive postings in the capital.

The pattern reflects an unresolved friction point in the cadre's integration: while the merger formally expanded the geography officers can be posted to, the actual allocation decisions taken by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the cadre-controlling authority, appear to be distributing erstwhile J&K cadre officers preferentially to the smaller AGMUT territories rather than to Delhi, where competition for slots from officers native to the older AGMUT cadre remains intense. Officers from the pre-merger AGMUT pool, having built seniority and networks around Delhi postings over years, are seen by some erstwhile J&K officers as holding an informal advantage when postings to the capital come up for allocation.

Cadre officials have previously acknowledged that the broader integration exercise, including a uniform transfer policy for the merged cadre, remains a work in progress, with the government separately finalising incentive packages for postings in Ladakh even as it works through the practicalities of blending two previously distinct sets of officers into one system. An earlier attempt to merge the J&K cadre into AGMUT, floated years before the eventual 2021 order, had itself been put on hold after officers warned it risked creating exactly this kind of confusion over transfer entitlements and posting expectations. Officers involved in that earlier round say the concerns raised then have largely materialised in the years since the merger actually went through.

No formal redressal mechanism for the grievance has been announced, and MHA continues to issue postings for the merged cadre through its regular transfer order cycles. Officers say they are, for now, raising the matter informally through service association channels rather than through any formal representation to the ministry.

The Chief Justice of a state High Court holds administrative charge over the institution in addition to judicial duties, overseeing roster allocation, infrastructure and coordination with the state government on judicial appointments and vacancies. The Madhya Pradesh High Court, headquartered in Jabalpur with benches in Indore and Gwalior, is among the larger High Courts by case pendency, making the Chief Justice's administrative role in managing case flow and judge strength a significant one. The Chief Justice also chairs the High Court's collegium for recommending elevations from the bar and the subordinate judiciary, a function that shapes the composition of the court for years beyond the individual Chief Justice's own tenure. Coordinating sittings across three separate seats of the court, each with its own bar association and local caseload, adds a further administrative layer that Chief Justices of Madhya Pradesh have had to manage.

Justice Kogje, born July 16, 1969, was elevated as an Additional Judge of the Gujarat High Court on April 6, 2016, and has since served on the court for close to a decade, presiding over matters as part of the Ahmedabad-based bench alongside colleagues elevated in the same batch. His name has previously come up in Supreme Court Collegium discussions regarding transfers of Gujarat High Court judges to other High Courts as part of a broader set of transfer recommendations affecting several sitting Gujarat judges, including Justices Kumari Gita Gopi, Hemant M. Prachchhak and Samir J. Dave, whose proposed transfers to other High Courts were part of the same collegium exercise. His near-decade on the Gujarat bench has given him exposure across a range of civil, criminal and constitutional matters typical of a judge nearing consideration for a Chief Justice's post.

Any elevation to Chief Justice of another High Court necessarily follows a transfer out of the judge's parent court, a convention the Collegium follows to maintain a degree of separation between a Chief Justice and the bar of the court where they practised before elevation to the bench. The practice also spreads administrative experience more evenly across India's High Courts rather than concentrating it within a single judge's home jurisdiction over an entire career.

The move, if confirmed, would be part of the Collegium's ongoing process of filling Chief Justice vacancies across High Courts through transfers of sitting judges, a practice intended to bring administrative leadership from outside a court's own establishment. Final recommendations from the Collegium require government notification before an appointment takes formal effect, a process that has in the past taken anywhere from a few weeks to several months depending on the government's own processing timelines.

The Madhya Pradesh High Court has functioned without clarity on its permanent Chief Justice leadership in the recent period, a gap that has added to the interest in how the Collegium resolves the pending recommendation. A prolonged vacancy at the top of a High Court can slow decisions on judge transfers, infrastructure sanctions and administrative matters that typically require the Chief Justice's sign-off, lawyers practising across the court's three seats say.

No formal notification confirming the appointment has been issued, and officials say the matter awaits the Collegium's final decision before it moves to the government for the customary approval process. The identity of the Bombay High Court judge also under consideration has not been officially disclosed.

The Ambassador's post in Tehran carries weight beyond the bilateral relationship itself, since Iran sits astride the Strait of Hormuz, a route through which India routes a significant share of its energy imports, and hosts Chabahar Port, a project central to India's connectivity ambitions toward Afghanistan and Central Asia that bypasses Pakistan. The posting also places the envoy at the centre of India's response to periodic instability in West Asia, including concerns over the safety of Indian seafarers transiting the Gulf. The mission in Tehran also handles a substantial consular workload, given the presence of Indian students, traders and pilgrims travelling to religious sites in Iran, adding a day-to-day administrative dimension to what is otherwise a geopolitically sensitive posting. The embassy additionally tracks the movement of Indian fishing crews and merchant sailors who periodically find themselves detained or stranded in Iranian waters, a recurring consular function that has taken on added urgency during the current period of regional tension.

Negi is currently serving as Joint Secretary within the MEA in New Delhi, a headquarters role in which he has handled foreign policy coordination and bilateral engagement matters. His appointment to Tehran follows the standard IFS career trajectory in which a Joint Secretary-level headquarters posting is followed by an ambassadorial assignment, typically to a mission commensurate with the officer's seniority and the current geopolitical weight of the country concerned. Officers reaching this stage of the service are usually drawn from a pool with prior experience in West Asia or in the ministry's territorial divisions handling the region, background that would have shaped Negi's preparation for a posting as sensitive as Tehran.

Negi moves to Tehran from his headquarters role in New Delhi, where officers at Joint Secretary rank typically handle a territorial or functional division spanning several countries or a specific policy area, coordinating India's diplomatic and economic engagement from the ministry rather than from a mission abroad. A 2002-batch entrant into the Indian Foreign Service, Negi is roughly two-and-a-half decades into a diplomatic career that, by IFS convention, would already have included at least one prior overseas posting at Deputy Chief of Mission or Consul General level before his current headquarters assignment.

The appointment comes at a moment when India has publicly urged Tehran to avoid attacks on commercial shipping and to protect the safety of seafarers, with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar directly engaging his Iranian counterpart on the issue. Indian officials have told Parliament that sixteen Indians, including ten seafarers, have been killed in the Middle East amid the ongoing regional conflict since February, underlining the human stakes attached to the mission Negi is set to take charge of.

Negi's tenure in Tehran will require him to balance India's energy and connectivity interests against a volatile regional security environment, managing the Chabahar Port relationship, trade ties and consular support for the Indian community even as tensions around the Strait of Hormuz periodically flare. He takes charge at a mission that has, in recent years, had to work around sanctions-related banking restrictions affecting bilateral trade settlement, an operational complication that shapes much of the commercial side of the ambassador's daily brief in Tehran. Payment mechanisms for Iranian oil and Indian exports of items such as rice, tea and pharmaceuticals have repeatedly needed workaround arrangements, and it will fall to the incoming envoy to keep those channels functioning amid shifting sanctions regimes.

Negi succeeds the outgoing envoy in Tehran and will take charge of the mission once the formal transfer of assignment is completed, the Ministry of External Affairs said in its statement.

CGHIDB, formerly the Chhattisgarh Housing Board, is a self-financing state agency whose original mandate was limited to housing construction and allotment, with nearly 70 percent of its stock historically catering to Economically Weaker Sections and Lower Income Groups. The organisation's transition to its expanded name and mandate allows it to now undertake Town Planning Schemes, redevelopment of ageing colonies and infrastructure projects, positioning it as a state-level counterpart to urban development authorities in larger states. The rebranding also gives the board statutory room to enter joint ventures with private developers, a route several state housing boards have opened up as land within city limits has grown scarcer and costlier to acquire outright.

Sharan inherited an institution with a strong affordable-housing legacy but a mandate that had remained narrowly focused even as Chhattisgarh's cities grew. His first priorities centred on reforming internal systems and rebuilding public confidence in the board's operations, including strengthening technology-driven service delivery through an Allottee Portal that gives beneficiaries direct access to property details, maintenance charges and payment records on a single platform. Colleagues describe his approach as heavily process-oriented, with an emphasis on cutting the time between booking and possession that had previously left buyers waiting months for paperwork to clear.

Before the mandate expansion, CGHIDB functioned primarily as a housing construction and allotment body, with limited engagement in the infrastructure and redevelopment work now central to its operations. Under Sharan, the organisation became one of the first housing institutions in the country to offer end-to-end online property booking through its website, alongside simultaneous registration and possession that simplified allotment and cut costs tied to properties sitting vacant.

The expanded CGHIDB has since launched a Bulk Sale Policy allowing institutions to purchase housing units in larger numbers, and organised the State-Level Housing Fair 2025, which put 56 housing projects worth more than 2,000 crore before buyers. Average annual property sales rose from 1,559 units in the 2019-23 period to 2,955 units in 2024-26, while sales value climbed from 72 crore to 613 crore over the same comparison, according to figures released by the board. Officials attribute part of the jump to faster registration timelines and to marketing efforts aimed at institutional and bulk buyers rather than individual purchasers alone.

CGHIDB's redevelopment push now covers five Phase-I projects spanning nearly 19 acres and valued at about 250 crore, executed through the PPP mode, alongside a proposed housing, wellness and tourism project at Mainpat in Surguja district. The board has expanded its presence to 30 of Chhattisgarh's 33 districts, with a stated goal of reaching every Vidhan Sabha constituency, and has directed particular attention toward Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups under the PM JANMAN initiative, including hostel and educational infrastructure in remote areas.

CGHIDB has maintained a debt-free financial position through the expansion, according to the board, while also delivering schools, healthcare facilities, hostels and warehouses as part of its widened infrastructure portfolio under Sharan's leadership. The board's transition from a single-purpose housing agency to a multi-sector development institution mirrors a shift several state housing boards have attempted in recent years, though few have paired the change with the scale of sales growth and geographic expansion CGHIDB has recorded since the mandate widened. Sustaining that pace will depend on how quickly the board can convert its Phase-I redevelopment pipeline into completed, revenue-generating projects rather than announced ones.

The Women and Child Development department in Delhi administers the Integrated Child Development Services network of anganwadi centres, one-stop crisis centres for women and welfare schemes targeting maternal and child nutrition across the capital's districts. A Special Secretary posting places Reddy in direct charge of implementation oversight for these programmes, coordinating between the department's field-level anganwadi workers and the policy direction set by the Delhi government. The department also runs shelter homes and rehabilitation programmes for women in distress, placing Reddy's office at the intersection of welfare delivery and law-and-order coordination whenever cases require police or judicial involvement. Delhi's dense urban population and constant inward migration add a layer of complexity to the department's caseload that is less pronounced in comparable state-level departments elsewhere.

Reddy has built her eleven-year IAS career largely within Delhi's revenue and land administration machinery, with her longest single posting running more than eight years as Sub-Divisional Magistrate in the Revenue Department. She has also served on central deputation and, more recently, held charge as Director of Education under the Government of NCT of Delhi, giving her direct exposure to another major service-delivery department before her move to Women and Child Development. A 2015-batch AGMUT officer who cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination on her second attempt, Reddy holds an engineering background that is somewhat atypical for her current welfare-focused portfolio, though such cross-sector movement is common within the AGMUT cadre's compact administrative structure. Colleagues note that her long spell as SDM gave her an unusually granular understanding of how Delhi's ward-level administration actually functions on the ground.

Her appointment to WCD follows her tenure as Director of Education, a department where she oversaw policy implementation across Delhi's government school network before moving to her current charge, a transition that keeps her within the same broad cluster of social-sector departments even as the specific portfolio changes. That stint in education is also expected to inform how she approaches the anganwadi network's pre-school and early-learning components within WCD.

The appointment comes as Delhi's WCD department works to expand crisis-response infrastructure and strengthen its anganwadi network amid the capital's mixed record on child nutrition indicators, a portfolio that requires close coordination with the Delhi Commission for Women and district-level child welfare committees. The department has faced budgetary and staffing pressures at the anganwadi level in recent years, an operational challenge that will fall within Reddy's purview as she settles into the Special Secretary role. Vacancies among anganwadi workers in several districts have periodically slowed the rollout of nutrition and pre-school programmes the department is meant to deliver.

As Special Secretary, Reddy is expected to focus on strengthening service delivery mechanisms within WCD, an area where the department has faced scrutiny over gaps between scheme design and last-mile implementation in some of Delhi's more densely populated districts. Her experience as SDM, a posting that required direct, day-to-day engagement with citizens over land and revenue disputes, is expected to inform her approach to a department whose effectiveness is similarly measured at the level of individual anganwadi centres and crisis intervention cases rather than in policy documents alone. Officers who have worked with her describe a preference for ground verification over relying solely on reports filed up the chain.

Reddy's appointment takes effect with immediate assumption of charge, according to the Delhi government's order confirming her posting to the Women and Child Development department. Her predecessor's next assignment had not been announced as of the order's issuance.

In a post on social media, the Minister noted that the Asiatic Lion population has steadily increased from 523 in 2015 to 891 in 2025. He attributed this achievement to the dedication of forest officials, conservationists, local communities and all those working tirelessly to protect the magnificent species.

Shri Yadav stated that Indias success in conserving the Asiatic Lion is a proud testament to the countrys commitment to wildlife and biodiversity. On the occasion, in a social media post, Union MoS (EFCC), Shri Kirti Vardhan Singh, stated that by protecting critical habitats, strengthening conservation programmes and fostering coexistence, India has shown the world that development and nature can thrive together.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi announced 'Project Lion' on 15th August, 2020, to ensure long term conservation of the big cat. Currently, the lion range has expanded from around 30,000 sq. km. in 2020 to nearly 35,000 sq. km.

The project adopts a landscape-level, holistic approach to biodiversity conservation, emphasising habitat enhancement, disease monitoring and veterinary support, scientific population tracking, technology-aided interventions, biodiversity protection, benefit sharing and community involvement.

With the new initiative, agriculture students will now receive their scholarships every month directly through DBT, ensuring timely and hassle-free financial assistance.

Addressing the gathering, Union Agriculture Minister Shri Chouhan said that scholarships are not merely a form of financial assistance but an important means of strengthening agricultural education and connecting it with practical learning and greater opportunities. He said the DBT mechanism will ensure that students receive financial support on time and help eliminate the delays associated with traditional systems.

Addressing the students, Shri Chouhan emphasised the importance of practical training in agricultural education. He said classroom-based learning alone cannot produce good farmers, scientists or agricultural entrepreneurs, and that hands-on training is essential for developing real competence in the agriculture sector. He also urged students to share their suggestions and ideas for improvements in the system.

Shri Chouhan said that under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Government is giving priority to food security, nutrition and farmers income security in the agriculture sector. Appreciating the contribution of ICAR scientists, he said their research, along with the hard work of farmers, has played a vital role in strengthening the countrys food grain reserves.

The Union Minister encouraged young people to set larger goals beyond their careers and contribute meaningfully to the nation. He urged agriculture students not to limit themselves to seeking employment, but to take a leading role in innovation, startups and research in the agriculture sector.

Shri Chouhan said the NSP-DBT system will make scholarship distribution more transparent, faster and seamless. Timely financial assistance will enable students to focus more effectively on their education. He also emphasised that agricultural education must be integrated with technology, training and industry orientation to better address the challenges of the future.

On the occasion of Hariyali Amavasya, Shri Chouhan also appealed to agriculture students at ICAR institutions across the country to participate in plantation drives. He said that green initiatives are part of a collective responsibility towards both agriculture and the environment.

Approximately 1,000 wrestlers and athletes from Maharashtra were among the donors who participated in the camp, demonstrating the spirit of selfless service and solidarity with the Defence Forces.

Expressing gratitude to the donors, Raksha Mantri expressed confidence that the blood donated today would serve as a credible reserve for needy soldiers and their families in the future. He described blood donation as Jivandan and Mahadan, stressing that despite remarkable advances in science and medicine, no artificial substitute for human blood has yet been developed. Since blood can only be produced by the human body and donated by one person to another, he said, blood donation remains one of the noblest forms of charity.

Shri Rajnath Singh underlined that every blood donor and recipient is, in their own way, serving the nation. He urged the people, particularly the youth, to make blood donation a culture. When we celebrate 100 years of our independence in 2047, our aim should not be limited to a developed economy; we must also envision a compassionate society where people are healthy and safe, and precious resources like blood are readily available in times of need, he said.

In his address, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah said that Puducherry is a living symbol of the spiritual and cultural consciousness of South India. Today, the Puducherry Police has joined the ranks of police forces in the country that have been awarded the Presidents Colours. The conferment of the Presidents Colours upon the Puducherry Police is a testament to the bravery, hard work and dedication of the force.

Shri Amit Shah said that receiving the Presidents Colours is one of the most prestigious moments for any police force. The Puducherry Police is entrusted with the responsibility of protecting Puducherry, ensuring its internal security and safeguarding its honour. The Puducherry Police has received this prestigious honour in recognition of its hard work, valour, service and dedication.

Union Home Minister said that despite having remained under French rule for a long period, Puducherry has preserved its Indian identity and spiritual vitality. The post of Director General of Police was created in Puducherry on October 1, 1963, and since then, the Puducherry Police has strengthened the internal security of this border region.

Shri Amit Shah said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Government of India has replaced the penal codes enacted by the British with three new criminal laws. He said that these new laws are not merely punitive in nature; rather, their objective is to ensure justice for citizens in a technology-enabled and time-bound manner. The new criminal laws are built on three pillars: Technology, Timeline and Trust.

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has taken several steps over the past 12 years to strengthen the Union Territories. He said that the Central Government has undertaken several development projects for the people of Puducherry to strengthen the Union Territory. He said that the four-laning of National Highway 332-A has been undertaken at a cost of 2,200 crore. He also said that the Modi Government has constructed an extended runway here, approximately 3,400 metres long and 45 metres wide.

Shri Amit Shah said that from 1950 to 2014, the Government of India had provided only 3,500 crore to Puducherry for developmental works. From 2014 to 2026, the Modi Government has provided 13,762 crore for the development of Puducherry, which is nearly four times the amount provided earlier. He said that over the past nine years, the Government of India has also facilitated industrial investments worth 39,000 crore in Puducherry. Citizens of Puducherry have benefited from initiatives such as Lakhpati Didi, Jal Jeevan Mission, Ayushman Bharat, construction of toilets, the free foodgrain scheme, Ujjwala Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Union Home Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Government of India is committed to the development of Puducherry and remains ready to serve its people round the clock.

Buying a home is only the beginning of a customer's financial journey, and in initial days, families often manage interiors, education, savings and everyday expenses, alongside the monthly EMI, Kotak Mahindra Bank said in a statement on Sunday.

The product allows customers to choose a fixed-rate period of 39, 52 or 65 months, during which their interest rate and EMI remain unchanged even if the repo rate changes, it said.

Thereafter, Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation Shri Amit Shah will participate as the Chief Guest in the Sahakar Nav-Kranti programme at the BSE International Convention Centre. Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis will also be present at the programme.

During the programme, a Memorandum of Understanding will be exchanged between NUCFDC and the National Forensic Sciences UniversityNFSU. This collaboration will play an important role in strengthening cyber security, technological capabilities and institutional capacity in the Urban Cooperative Banking sector.

The Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation will also inaugurate a Security Operations CentreSOC to strengthen the cyber security of Urban Cooperative Banks. A Core Banking Service and allied services under a nationwide service bundle will also be launched. These initiatives aim to provide Urban Cooperative Banks with a modern, secure and shared digital banking infrastructure. Representatives of the first six Urban Cooperative Banks successfully connected to Sahakar CBS will also be felicitated during the programme.

On the occasion, the Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation will also release the book titled Operational Risk Management A Practical Guide to Urban Co-operative Banks, authored by Shri G. P. NUCFDC was launched on 2 March 2024 as an umbrella organisation for Urban Cooperative Banks. It aims to provide these banks with shared technology platforms, core banking services, cyber-security solutions, capacity-building and operational support. Through shared services, particularly small and medium Urban Cooperative Banks will be able to reduce the cost of adopting modern banking technology, offer improved services to customers and compete effectively with private and commercial banks.

The Minister said that India must build an intelligent, secure and trusted financial ecosystem driven by emerging technologies, stating that the next phase of the country's FinTech growth will be shaped by Artificial Intelligence, quantum technologies, cybersecurity, blockchain and trusted digital innovation.

Addressing the 3rd India International FinTech Festival in New Delhi, Dr. Jitendra Singh said India's FinTech sector has emerged as a critical driver of the country's economic transformation through close collaboration among the banking sector, financial institutions, technology companies and StartUps. He observed that this collaborative approach, supported by strong public-private partnerships, has become the foundation of India's rapidly expanding innovation ecosystem.

Highlighting the role of frontier technologies in shaping the future of financial services, the Minister said that next-generation FinTech solutions must increasingly focus on Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, quantum technologies and blockchain. He stressed that the future belongs to responsible Artificial Intelligence and trusted innovation, capable of delivering secure, resilient and citizen-centric financial services.

Referring to India's technological advancements, Dr. Jitendra Singh said the National Quantum Mission has positioned the country among a select group of nations investing in quantum technologies across four verticals i.e. quantum computing, quantum communication, quantum sensing and quantum materials. He informed that while the Mission had set a target of establishing 2,000 kilometres of secure quantum communication over ten years, India has already achieved over 1,000 kilometres within just three years, demonstrating progress well ahead of the planned timeline. He also referred to the IndiaAI Mission as another major initiative supporting the country's emerging technology ecosystem.

The Minister observed that India is increasingly matching global technological developments in real time rather than following them years later. He noted that the opening of strategic sectors such as space and, more recently, the nuclear sector to private participation reflects a collaborative approach that is accelerating innovation and expanding opportunities for technology-led economic growth. He added that India's space economy, currently valued at around USD 9 billion, is projected to reach USD 45 billion before the end of the decade, demonstrating the potential of policy reforms supported by industry participation.

Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasised that India's FinTech sector must now prepare for the next phase of growth by focusing on AI-powered financial services, secure real-time banking, advanced fraud prevention, cross-border digital payments and affordable financial solutions. He said these emerging areas present significant opportunities for Indian FinTech enterprises to establish themselves as global leaders.

Highlighting the country's innovation ecosystem, the Minister noted that India's start-up landscape has expanded from around 350 start-ups to nearly 2.4 lakh over the last decade, supported by a world-class talent pool and an enabling policy environment. He stressed that stronger collaboration among start-ups, regulators, academia, financial institutions, industry and technology companies would be essential for sustaining this momentum and developing globally competitive financial technologies.

Dr. Jitendra Singh said that the success of initiatives aimed at expanding financial access has laid the foundation for the country's next developmental milestone. Similarly, he said that after emerging as a global leader in digital payments through the Digital India initiative, the country should now aspire to progress from digital payments to digital prosperity, ensuring that technology-driven financial systems contribute directly to economic growth and improved livelihoods.

The Minister further observed that rapid technological change demands continuous innovation and adaptation. Referring to the next phase of industrial transformation, he said that while Artificial Intelligence would drive the future industrial revolution, biotechnology would also play a transformative role in addressing challenges relating to healthcare, food security and sustainable development. He highlighted initiatives such as the Genome India Programme, under which 10,000 individuals have already been sequenced, as an example of India's growing capabilities in frontier science and technology.

Concluding his address, Dr. Jitendra Singh said India has a unique opportunity to emerge as the world's trusted innovation economy by combining scientific excellence, technological leadership and collaborative partnerships. He expressed confidence that continued investments in frontier technologies, innovation and public-private collaboration would enable India to contribute meaningfully to global technological advancement while accelerating its own economic transformation.

The conclave focused on strengthening sports governance, enhancing athlete welfare, and reviewing Indias preparedness for upcoming major international sporting events.

It is our responsibility to ensure that no athlete is ever subjected to injustice. Injustice can take many forms, and wherever such a situation arises, he said.

Calling for complete transparency in athlete selection processes, the Union Minister said that selection trials must be conducted in a fair and accountable manner.

Open selection trials should be recorded on camera in the presence of observers. There should be absolutely no compromise on transparency in the selection process, Dr. Mandaviya stated.

Highlighting the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for Indian sports, Dr. Mandaviya said, The Prime Minister has consistently emphasised the need to keep athletes on the playing field and develop a strong league culture in the country. Every National Sports Federation must work towards creating greater competitive opportunities for athletes throughout the year.

The Union Minister also underscored the need for a comprehensive strategy to eliminate doping from Indian sports. Stressing that the existing framework requires strengthening, he said the Government is working on amendments to make the anti-doping ecosystem more effective.

We must collectively tackle the menace of doping. It is not enough to act only against athletes. The entire chainfrom manufacturers and suppliers to facilitators and usersmust be identified and dealt with through a transparent and robust mechanism. Only then can we effectively eradicate doping from sports, he said.
