Arjun Singh Tomar Repatriated From DFCCIL, Posted as Executive Director (Signal), Railway Board

Arjun Singh Tomar, an officer of the Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers (IRSSE), has been repatriated from deputation to the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL). He has been transferred to the Railway Board and posted as Executive Director (Signal).

The Signal and Telecom Directorate of the Railway Board is responsible for procurement and maintenance of signal and telecom assets across Indian Railways. It sits under the Member (Infrastructure), who is assisted by an Additional Member (Signal) and an Additional Member (Tele), according to a Comptroller and Auditor General report on the railways.

Tomar belongs to the IRSSE, the service that designs, installs and maintains the signalling systems on which train movement depends. The order summary does not list his earlier postings, and no batch year was given.

His previous assignment was on deputation to DFCCIL, the company set up under the Ministry of Railways to build and operate the Eastern and Western Dedicated Freight Corridors. DFCCIL is a separate corporate entity, which means its officers from the railway services serve there on deputation and return to the parent cadre when the tenure ends.

The move is a repatriation, which places him back in the railway cadre at the Board level. It is not a lateral shift between zonal railways. An Executive Director's post at the Board is one of the levels at which railway service officers handle policy and procurement for a technical directorate.

Tomar takes charge of signalling matters at the Board after leaving DFCCIL.
