Bihar Moves Retired IAS Officer Deepak Kumar Out of CMO to Disaster Management Authority
Bihar moves retired IAS officer Deepak Kumar, adviser to CM Samrat Choudhary, to Vice-Chairman of the state disaster management authority (BSDMA), on Wednesday.
The Bihar government on Wednesday transferred Deepak Kumar, a retired IAS officer, from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO). He had been adviser, in the rank of Principal Secretary, to Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. He has been appointed Vice-Chairman of the Bihar State Disaster Management Authority (BSDMA).
The BSDMA is the state-level body under the Disaster Management Act, 2005. The Chief Minister chairs it, and the vice-chairman handles its work between meetings.
Deepak Kumar was the last officer in the CMO who remained from former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's term. His transfer ends the continuity of Nitish-era officers in the Chief Minister's Office.
The move follows a series of changes in the state's administration since Choudhary took charge.
The order shifts him from an adviser's post in the CMO to a vice-chairman's post at the BSDMA.
