Delhi Government Transfers Over 50 IAS and DANICS Officers in Sweeping Late-Night Reshuffle
The Delhi government transferred more than 50 IAS and DANICS officers in a late-night order, reshuffling secretaries across health, WCD, finance, home, transport and urban portfolios.
The Delhi government issued a sweeping late-night administrative order transferring more than 50 IAS and DANICS officers, with changes affecting secretaries attached to at least four ministers and significant restructuring in the Health department. Multiple officers received additional charges, with several influential portfolios redistributed across the senior officer pool.
Among the IAS changes: Bipul Pathak (IAS: 1992) takes additional charge of Additional Chief Secretary, Women and Child Development, alongside his existing role as ACS, Social Welfare. Navin Kumar Chaudhary receives additional charge of ACS, General Administration Department, in addition to his posting as ACS, Irrigation and Flood Control. Pandurang K. Pole is appointed Secretary, Land and Building, with additional charges as Secretary-cum-Commissioner, Labour, and Secretary, Cooperation.
Jitendra Yadav, currently Managing Director of Delhi Transport Corporation, takes additional charge of Secretary, Information Technology. Sandeep Kumar Singh gets additional charge of Special Secretary, Finance, alongside his role as Special Secretary in the Chief Minister's Office. Sachin Rana adds Special Secretary and Principal Director, Delhi Fire Services, to his role as Special Secretary, Home. Santosh Kumar Rai joins as Special CEO, Delhi Disaster Management Authority with additional charge of Special Secretary, Home. M.C. Prasad is appointed Special Secretary, Health; K.K. Lakshman is posted as Deputy Commissioner, South West District with additional charge of Director, Panchayat. Sanjeev Kumar joins as Special Commissioner, Trade and Taxes, and Amol Srivastava takes charge as Special Commissioner, Transport.
In the DANICS cadre: M.K. Dwivedi is posted as Additional Secretary, Urban Development; Dharmendra Kumar as Deputy Commissioner, Old Delhi; Shamim Akhtar Tamanna as Special Secretary, Administrative Reforms; Vaibhav Rikhari and Vinay Kumar Jindal both posted as Directors in Delhi Jal Board; Rajesh Chaudhary as Secretary to the Minister for Industries, Food and Supplies; Mukesh Rajoria as Secretary to the Minister for Health and Family Welfare; and Ankur Meshram as Secretary to the Minister for Social Welfare. Ranjeet Kumar is posted as Secretary to the Minister for Law and Justice; Himanshu Yadav as SDM, Headquarters, Divisional Commissioner; and Pawan Kumar as Superintendent, Prisons.
The reshuffle spans health — a department under sustained public and judicial attention over hospital infrastructure — as well as urban development, finance, home, women and child development, and transport. Officers relieved of additional responsibilities include D. Verma, removed from the Special Secretary, Planning and Executive Director, Delhi Financial Corporation roles, and Pankaj Kumar, relieved as Deputy Commissioner, Headquarters.
The scale of the reshuffle — over 50 officers moved in a single overnight order — and the breadth of portfolios affected point to a deliberate administrative recalibration rather than routine transfers. The concentration of additional charges under select officers suggests the government is consolidating oversight through a smaller group of trusted administrators across sensitive functions. No official rationale was published alongside the transfer orders.
