Gujarat’s DGP post: Shamsher Singh emerges as frontrunner
The premature repatriation of ADG BSF Shamsher Singh to the parent Gujarat cadre has fuelled speculations of his being appointed new DGP. He is a 1991 batch IPS officer.
Shamsher Singh has previously served in counter-insurgency operations in Gujarat. Officials say his experience in the BSF adds value to state policing strategies. His appointment is expected to bring reforms in traffic and crime management. The decision will be finalised by the state government after MHA consultation.
