Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman & Managing Director, NLCIL, unfurled the National Flag and took the salute in the august presence of the Functional Directors, Chief Vigilance Officer, DIG/CISF, senior officials and employees of NLCIL. The celebrations witnessed the participation of representatives from recognised Trade Unions, Associations of Engineers, Officers and Supervisors, SC/ST and OBC Welfare Associations, Heads of Schools and Colleges, teachers, students, and women employees. Following the unfurling of the National Flag, the CMD reviewed an impressive march- past comprising platoons from CISF, NLCIL Security, Home Guards, NCC, NSS, and students from Neyveli schools and colleges. Earlier in the day, Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli paid floral tributes to the Statue of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, at the Township Administration premises. Shri Samir Swarup, Director (Human Resources), welcomed the gathering. On the occasion, the CMD unveiled the newly designed logo commemorating the 70th year of NLCIL, marking seven decades of its illustrious journey since its inception in 1956. Adding a new dimension to the celebrations, the Republic Day parade this year featured, for the first time at NLCIL, nine thematic tableaux presented by various units of the company. These tableaux creatively showcased NLCIL’s diverse operations and activities and were highly appreciated by the CMD. In his Republic Day address, Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli described the occasion as a powerful reminder of the vision, wisdom and sacrifices of India’s founding fathers, who envisioned an independent, sovereign, democratic and inclusive nation. He paid rich tributes to the architects of Indian democracy—Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel—for laying a strong foundation rooted in justice, liberty, equality and fraternity. Highlighting the significance of the year ahead, the CMD noted that 2026 would be a landmark year for NLCIL as it celebrates its 70th anniversary and stands poised to play a pivotal role in strengthening the country’s energy security. He proudly outlined NLCIL’s recent achievements, including the commissioning of Unit II of the Ghatampur Thermal Power Project, the 300 MW Solar Power Project at Barsingsar, Rajasthan, and the Solar Power Project in the mined-out area at Neyveli. He also highlighted the company’s highest-ever half-yearly operational revenue of over ₹8,000 crore, the “Excellent” rating awarded by the Ministry of Coal, becoming the first CPSE to receive IPMA Delta Certification – Level 3 (Standardized), commencement of mining operations at the Pachwara Coal Block, achieving a CAPEX of ₹6,242 crore by 2025 and the declaration of the highest interim dividend of 36%. The CMD also mentioned several prestigious awards received by NLCIL, including the SKOCH Gold Award for excellence in financial performance, the “Nishta Ki Pratishtha” Award for outstanding implementation of the Official Language Policy, and the Best Performer Award under the Government of India’s Special Campaign 5.0. He lauded the collective efforts of Team NLCIL. Shri Prasanna Kumar also congratulated students who had brought laurels to the organisation through achievements in sports. Expressing gratitude, Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli thanked the Hon’ble Minister of Coal & Mines, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, the Hon’ble Minister of State for Coal & Mines, Shri Satish Chandra Dubey, the Secretary (Coal), senior officials of the Ministry of Coal, and the Central and State Governments for their continued guidance and support. He exhorted Team NLCIL to rise to future challenges, harness its full potential, and contribute meaningfully towards a prosperous and sustainable future aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047. As part of the celebrations, the senior-most employee of NLCIL, Shri J. Sivashanmugham, along with his spouse Smt. S. Manjula, was felicitated. Motorised tricycles and scooters were distributed to differently-abled persons. Special awards were presented to employees and students by the CMD, Functional Directors, CVO and DIG/CISF. Employees whose designs were selected for the commemorative logo and those recognised for innovative ideas were also honoured. The celebrations concluded with a colourful cultural programme presented by CISF personnel and Neyveli school children, which were warmly appreciated by all. To mark the occasion, members of the Neyveli Ladies Club distributed fruits to in- patients at the NLCIL General Hospital and wished them a speedy recovery.
