NLCIL Kicks-off Vigilance Awareness Week 2026 with theme “Probity for Prosperity”

NLC India Limited (NLCIL) grandly commenced its Vigilance Awareness Week (VAW) 2026 today, aligned with the CVC’s guidelines under the core campaign theme “Probity for Prosperity” (“सत्यनिष्ठा से समृद्धि”). The inaugural function witnessed wide participation from senior management, executives, employees, contract workers, trade union representatives, stakeholders, teachers, students and the general public.

The day's events began with the flagging off of the awareness vehicle, “The Straight Path-Today & Forever”, centered around the concept of a "Zero Currency Note" and carrying vibrant posters displaying vigilance awareness themes to propagate integrity messages across the region. Following this, dignitaries visited the exhibition area where school children and members of the general public showcased creative floral and color designs depicting themes related to probity, ethics, and vigilance.

The main inaugural function at the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam (Lignite) Hall commenced with the collective administration of the trilingual integrity pledge in English, Hindi, and Tamil.

Delivering the Keynote Address, the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), NLCIL, Thiru APPAKANNU GOVINDARAJAN, IPoS, emphasized the importance of systemic preventive vigilance, transparent public procurement and digital governance. He highlighted that MoC appreciated NLCIL on the track records in successful disposal of complaints and cases. He noted that while digital infrastructure is progressing, extra efforts are required to further modernize the company's IT framework. He also addressed current operational challenges in contract management, noting that timely closure of contracts must be rigorously ensured by bridging existing bottlenecks.

Addressing the young audience, the CVO expressed concern over the unique challenges faced by students today due to the proliferation of deepfake content across social media platforms and the internet. Reflecting on how mobile phones that were unheard of in earlier times can adversely impact and distract young minds if used unmindfully, he urged students to remain alert, cultivate digital hygiene, and uphold ethical values. He called upon every employee, worker and citizen to remain vigilant as a shared duty toward NLCIL's growth and the nation’s prosperity.

The event featured special addresses by the CEOs of outstation Joint Ventures namely NUPPL & NTPL (virtually), followed by inspiring special addresses from Thiru P L S S CHAITANYA PRAKASH, Director (Power) and Thiru R P S SISODIA, Director (Projects & Planning).

Presiding over the function, Director (Human Resources)

A major highlight of the inauguration was the formal launch of new vigilance-driven IT initiatives by the dignitaries to enhance digital transparency and operational accountability.
