Centre Empanels Over 60 IPS Officers of 2008 Batch for Inspector General-Level Posts
Centre empanels 60+ IPS officers from 2001–2008 batches across multiple state cadres for Inspector General and equivalent posts at the Union level.
The Union government has cleared a large batch of Indian Police Service officers for empanelment to the rank of Inspector General (IG) or equivalent posts at the Centre. The exercise predominantly covers the 2008 batch, along with select officers from the 2001, 2003, and 2004 batches, spread across multiple state cadres. Among those empanelled are Soorya Thankappan (2001 batch, Odisha cadre), Akhilesh Kumar Jha (2003 batch, Jharkhand cadre), Vikramjit Singh (2004 batch, AGMUT cadre), and Vikas Kumar (2004 batch, Rajasthan cadre).
From the 2007 batch, Patel Mayur Kanaiya Lal (Jharkhand cadre), Sarthak Sarangi (Odisha cadre), and Amandeep Singh Kapoor (Rajasthan cadre) have been cleared for IG-level postings at the Centre.
The 2008 batch empanelment is particularly extensive, covering officers from the AGMUT, Assam-Meghalaya, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh cadres. The empanelment paves the way for these officers' eventual deployment to central deputation positions and senior roles in central armed police forces and Union government ministries.
