In a strategic move to reinforce India's domestic energy security architecture, Vikram Dev Dutt, Secretary to the Ministry of Coal, chaired an intensive high-level review meeting at the corporate headquarters of Coal India Limited (CIL) in Kolkata. The session focused primarily on accelerating transformational structural reforms designed to expand extraction capacities, enhance net productivity, and drive extensive technological integration across CIL and its regional subsidiary networks.

The discussions focused on a multi-pronged overhaul of the existing coal supply chain. Key agendas included expanding national coal supplies, optimizing value-chain coal washing capacities, and rapidly deploying First Mile Connectivity (FMC) projects to streamline logistics and minimize environmental overheads. Furthermore, the Secretary emphasized the commercial escalation of surface coal gasification projects and the implementation of stringent cost optimization guidelines to curb unnecessary expenditure. The meeting was attended by prominent administrative leaders, including B. Sairam, Sanjeev Kumar Kassi, Dr. Vinay Ranjan (Director HR), Mukesh Choudhary (Director Marketing), Mukesh Agrawal (Director Finance), Achyut Ghatak (Director Technical), Asheesh Kumar (Director Business Development), and Chief Vigilance Officer Brajesh Kumar Tripathy.
