Deepa Chawla has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Office of the Secretary (Security) under the Cabinet Secretariat, for an overall tenure of five years running until December 28, 2028. A 1998-batch officer of the Indian Railway Accounts Service (IRAS), Chawla will bring her financial and administrative expertise to bear on one of the government's most sensitive security-related establishments.
