Kota Ravi Selected as Chairman and Managing Director of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited

Kota Ravi, currently Director (Operations) at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, has been selected for the position of Chairman and Managing Director, following a Public Enterprises Selection Board meeting on January 29, 2026, where he was chosen from among eight candidates interviewed for the post.

HAL is India's premier aerospace and defence manufacturing public sector enterprise, responsible for the design, manufacture, and maintenance of military aircraft, helicopters, and aerospace systems, making the CMD position one of the most strategically significant leadership roles within India's defence public sector landscape.

Ravi's promotion from Director (Operations) to the top leadership position follows the standard internal-elevation pattern common at major defence public sector enterprises, where PESB frequently draws CMD-level appointees from among an organisation's existing senior executives given their established familiarity with ongoing production programmes and defence procurement relationships.

His prior role as Director (Operations) would have carried direct responsibility for HAL's aircraft and helicopter production lines, experience directly relevant to the CMD role given the operational and delivery-timeline pressures HAL faces on its major defence procurement contracts.
