Major Administrative Overhaul in Madhya Pradesh: 26 IAS Officers Transferred
In a massive administrative overhaul, the Madhya Pradesh government has transferred 26 IAS officers to revitalize state governance and enhance operational efficiency.
The Government of Madhya Pradesh carried out a major administrative reshuffle on Thursday, issuing transfer orders for 26 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers. The General Administration Department clarified that the primary objective of this move is to enhance administrative efficiency and infuse new energy into the state's governance. This reshuffle includes changing the administrative heads (Collectors) of 14 districts, including the state capital, Bhopal, which is expected to have a direct impact on the state's operations.
Priyank Mishra Appointed as New Collector of Bhopal
The most significant change in this list occurred in Bhopal. Priyank Mishra has been appointed as the new Collector of Bhopal. He will now lead the capital's administration and oversee various ongoing development projects and public welfare schemes.
Previously, this responsibility was held by Kaushlendra Vikram Singh, who has now been transferred to the post of Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO)—a high-profile position working directly under the Chief Minister. Additionally, Singh has been given the extra charge of Commissioner-cum-Director of Town and Country Planning, placing him in a key role for urban and rural development policies.
Collectors Changed in 14 Districts
The 14 districts that have received new Collectors include:
-
Major Hubs: Bhopal, Sagar, Rewa, Dhar, and Narmadapuram.
-
Other Key Districts: Seoni, Shivpuri, Umaria, Sheopur, Maihar, Damoh, Mandla, Jhabua, and Betul.
From large districts like Sagar and Rewa to the newly formed district of Maihar, these changes reflect the government's intent for reform at every level. The new Collectors face the challenge of understanding the specific needs and development potential of their respective regions.
Empowering Women in Leadership
The transfer list demonstrates the government's trust in female leadership by assigning them crucial roles:
-
Rakhi Sahay: Appointed Collector of Umaria.
-
Sheela Dahima: Appointed Collector of Sheopur (a significant tribal-dominated district).
-
Bidisha Mukherjee: Appointed Collector of the newly formed district, Maihar.
-
Neha Meena: Transferred from Jhabua to Seoni as Collector.
-
Pratibha Pal: Moved from Rewa to take over as Collector of Sagar, a vital educational and commercial hub.
New Roles for Outgoing Collectors
Several existing Collectors have been moved to strategic departmental roles:
-
Sonia Meena (Narmadapuram): Appointed as Additional Secretary in the Finance Department, a role critical to the state’s financial management.
-
Sheetla Patle (Seoni): Appointed as Secretary of the Public Service Commission (PSC), where she will oversee recruitment and administrative selection processes.
Conclusion
While administrative reshuffles are a routine part of governance, the scale of this exercise signals a broad effort to reorganize the state’s framework and improve service delivery. By placing new officers in key positions, the government aims to accelerate development projects and strengthen law and order. This move is seen as a strategic step toward creating a more responsive and robust administrative machinery for the citizens of Madhya Pradesh.
