NEYVELI BOOK FAIR ENTERS 5TH DAY: EMINENT WRITERS, PUBLISHERS HONOURED AND NEW TITLES RELEASED
The ongoing Neyveli Book Fair successfully entered its fifth day today, continuing to witness a massive influx of avid book lovers, students, and visitors from Neyveli and its neighboring areas. The annual cultural and literary flagship event has firmly established itself as a premier hub for intellectual engagement and community gathering in the region.

The daily evening literary event was conducted with traditional grandeur at the Lignite Hall, situated within the vibrant Book Fair premises. Today’s function was presided over by Shri K. Mathi, Executive Director (Thermal Projects), NLCIL. The occasion was graced by Shri R. Sathiyasundaram, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Puducherry, who attended as the Chief Guest, alongside Guest of Honour Dr. P. Hariharan, Dean, College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University.
Shri R. Sathiyasundaram, in his address, expressed his happiness to participate in the Neyveli Book Fair in its Silver Jubilee year. He emphasized the role of reading in societal development and youth empowerment. Books are like mirrors which reflect our thoughts, he said. He compared the book to a good friend, pointing out how, like a good friend, it stands by us when we are lonely or in trouble. He listed out many benefits of reading a good book and called upon children to read books and reap those benefits.
Dr. P. Hariharan, speaking on the occasion, said he was proud to participate in the 25th Neyveli Book Fair. He credited NLC India Limited for introducing innovative measures like a spacious layout and adequate safety exit points at the Book Fair venue. The availability of a wide range of books is an opportunity for children to gain valuable knowledge, he said. He also noted that Book Fairs were places where seeds of knowledge are sowed. He highlighted that though the digital world today provides bytes of information, it is books that offer a holistic experience with a humane touch. He exhorted children to read books, which open new worlds.
In line with the rich traditions of the Neyveli Book Fair, renowned Writer Dr. C.R. Manjula was felicitated for her literary excellence, while acclaimed publisher M/s. Minerva Publications, Chennai, was formally recognized and honoured for their dedicated service to the publishing industry.
Marking a vital highlight of the evening, two significant new literary works were officially released by the dignitaries. The first book, titled "Heart matters: The Psychology of Love and Relationships (Psychology)", authored by Shri John M Kennedy, and the second, a scholarly commentary titled "Naladiyar (Uraivilakkam)", penned by Shri S.P. Ramalingam, were unveiled during the event..
The intellectual sessions were followed by a captivating and high-energy variety dance program. A unique fusion of Classical, Western, and Folk dance styles was dynamically presented by the talented students of Anna Varghese Abinaya Natyalaya, Neyveli, and the Uma Maheswari Dynamic Fitness Dance Academy, Neyveli, leaving the packed auditorium spellbound.
The Neyveli Book Fair, complete with hundreds of stalls and attractive discounts, will continue its run through the week, welcoming visitors daily until its grand conclusion on 29th June, 2026.
