NLC India and C-DAC Join Hands to Advance Green Digital Infrastructure

NLC India Limited (NLCIL), a leading Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Coal, Government of India, has entered into a strategic partnership with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) through its wholly-owned green energy subsidiary, NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL), to explore opportunities in green digital infrastructure and advanced computing technologies.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was exchanged during SemiCon India 2026 in New Delhi between Shri Ramachandra Parashar, Director, NIRL, and Dr. S.D. Sudarsan, Executive Director, C-DAC, in the presence of Shri Amitesh Kumar Sinha, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and Shri R.P.S. Sisodia, Director (Planning & Projects), NLCIL.

The partnership seeks to leverage NIRL’s growing capabilities in renewable energy, particularly across solar, wind and energy storage projects, along with C-DAC’s expertise in advanced computing and digital technologies. The collaboration will explore technology support and consultancy for state-of-the-art renewable energy-powered data centres, aimed at enabling sustainable and energy-efficient digital infrastructure.

The MoU will also facilitate opportunities for joint initiatives in emerging and strategic technology domains, including High-Performance Computing (HPC), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Quantum Computing. By bringing together clean energy capabilities and advanced computing research and development, the partnership aims to create innovative solutions at the intersection of energy and digital technologies.

The initiative aligns with India’s vision of building a secure, sustainable and technology-driven digital ecosystem, while contributing to the objectives of Digital India and Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Through this strategic collaboration, NLCIL, through NIRL, is further strengthening its commitment to expanding its renewable energy portfolio and exploring new-age opportunities that support India’s transition towards a greener, smarter and more resilient digital future.
