NLC INDIA LIMITED CELEBRATES 12th INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA WITH ENTHUSIASTIC PARTICIPATION OF AROUND 8,000 PEOPLE AT NEYVELI
NLC India Limited (NLCIL) celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 with great enthusiasm and fervour at Bharathi Stadium, Neyveli, reaffirming its commitment to promoting health, wellness, and holistic living through the practice of Yoga.

In line with the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, and under the strategic guidance of the Hon’ble Union Minister for Coal and Mines, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, and the Hon’ble Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Shri Satish Chandra Dubey, NLCIL organized the event in a grand manner to commemorate the globally celebrated occasion.
The theme for this year’s International Day of Yoga, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” underscores the role of Yoga in fostering physical vitality, mental well-being, and emotional resilience across all age groups. The event witnessed an overwhelming participation of around 8,000 individuals, including VVIPs, senior officials of NLCIL, representatives of various trade unions and associations, welfare federations, members of WIPS, INDCOSERVE, contract workmen, volunteers from Yoga organizations in and around Neyveli, stakeholders, members of the public, and nearly 7,500 students from various schools in Neyveli.
Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director, NLC India Limited, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his address, he highlighted the importance of incorporating Yoga into daily life as a means to achieve holistic health, inner harmony, and overall well-being. He emphasized that Yoga is not merely a physical exercise but a way of life that contributes significantly to personal and societal wellness.
The programme was also attended by Shri Samir Swarup, Director (HR), Shri R. P. S. Sisodia, Director (Projects & Planning) and Director (Power) – Additional Charge, the CISF Commandant, and other senior officials of NLC India Limited, who graced the occasion with their esteemed presence and actively participated in the Yoga session.
As part of the celebration, the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) prescribed by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, was demonstrated by expert Yoga instructors. Participants enthusiastically performed various Yoga asanas and breathing exercises, reflecting the growing awareness and acceptance of Yoga as a means to lead a healthy and balanced life.
Earlier, Shri B. Vaidyanathan, Chief General Manager/Township Administration, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the significance of Yoga in enhancing physical fitness, mental clarity, emotional stability, and overall quality of life.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by the Deputy General Manager (Education, Sports & Culture), who expressed sincere gratitude to the Chief Guest, dignitaries, participants, volunteers, educational institutions, Yoga organizations, and all stakeholders for their valuable contribution towards the successful conduct of the event.
