Rajasthan Shifts 18 IPS Officers in Major Police Reshuffle

The Rajasthan government has transferred 18 IPS officers in a major police reshuffle, with Anil Paliwal of the 1994 batch moving from DGP, Training and Traffic, Jaipur, to DG and Commandant General, Home Guards, Jaipur. Malini Agarwal, also of the 1994 batch, has been named Director General of Police, Traffic, Jaipur, in his place.

A reshuffle of this size affects how the state's police force is organised across specialised wings — traffic management, vigilance, crime investigation, home guards and district commissionerates. Each posting determines who oversees law enforcement priorities in specific regions or functional areas, from Jaipur's traffic congestion to anti-corruption enforcement, making the reassignment of senior IPS officers a routine but consequential exercise for the state's policing apparatus. Rajasthan's home department typically issues such large-scale reshuffles when a cluster of postings falls due together, either because of promotions, retirements, or a broader policy decision to rotate officers across functional wings.

Paliwal and Agarwal, both of the 1994 batch, represent some of the most senior IPS officers in the state cadre, having built careers across district postings and specialised police wings before reaching their current ranks. The Home Guards organisation Paliwal now heads functions as an auxiliary force supporting the regular police during large public events, disaster response and security duties, while the Traffic wing Agarwal takes charge of manages congestion and road-safety enforcement across Rajasthan's rapidly growing urban centres. Sharat Kaviraj moves to IGP, Crime Branch, Jaipur, while Rajendra Singh takes charge as IGP, Vigilance, Jaipur, positions that carry direct responsibility for investigating organised crime and corruption cases involving state officials.

The reshuffle also covers district-level postings. Anshuman Bhomia becomes Police Commissioner of Jodhpur, one of Rajasthan's largest urban policing charges and a post that carries responsibility for the city's law and order coordination independent of the surrounding rural district administration, while Dr Ravi takes over as IGP, Ajmer Range, an appointment that covers a cluster of districts in central Rajasthan. Kailash Chandra Bishnoi moves to IGP, Planning, Modernization and Welfare, a wing responsible for police infrastructure upgrades and personnel welfare schemes, and Dr Preeti Chandra becomes IGP, Bharatpur Range, rounding out the range-level appointments in this round of transfers.

Below the IGP level, the reshuffle extends to Superintendents of Police and battalion commandants. Rajesh Kumar Kanwat becomes SP, Balotra, Narendra Singh Meena takes charge as Commandant of the 10th Battalion, RAC, Bikaner, and P.D. Nitya moves to SP, Anti-Corruption Bureau, Jodhpur. Ajey Singh Rathore has been posted as Commandant of the 7th Battalion, RAC, Bharatpur, while Vishal Jangid becomes SP, Pratapgarh.

The remaining postings cover a mix of SP and Deputy Commissioner roles: Ramesh moves to SP, CB (Human Rights and Weaker Sections) at Police Headquarters, Jaipur; B. Aditya becomes SP, Hanumangarh, a border district bordering Punjab and Haryana; Pankaj Yadav takes over as SP, Jodhpur Rural; and Pradeep Mohan Sharma moves to Additional Police Commissioner, Traffic and Administration, Jaipur. Anushtha Kalia has been transferred as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Headquarters, at the Jaipur Police Commissionerate, a role that handles internal coordination for the state capital's policing setup. Together, these district and commissionerate-level moves fill out the operational backbone beneath the more senior IGP and DG-level postings announced in the same order.

All 18 transfers were issued in a single order by the Rajasthan government, covering postings from the DGP level down to district Superintendents of Police, according to the state's home department.
