Murari Lal Makwana Transferred to Western Railway as PCSTE

Murari Lal Makwana, an officer of the Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers presently posted at North Eastern Railway, has been transferred to Western Railway and posted as Principal Chief Signal and Telecommunication Engineer.

Western Railway is one of the busiest zones in the Indian Railways network, covering Mumbai's suburban corridor along with long-distance routes across Gujarat, Rajasthan and parts of Madhya Pradesh, and its signalling systems support one of the highest train frequencies of any zone in the country.

Makwana's move from North Eastern Railway, where he held the same designation, to Western Railway represents a lateral transfer between zones rather than a promotion, a common practice for the Railway Board when reallocating experienced PCSTE-rank officers across zones of differing operational complexity.

The role at Western Railway carries added responsibility given the zone's high-density suburban operations in Mumbai, where signalling failures have outsized consequences for the city's commuter rail network that millions rely on daily.

His transfer coincides with the appointment of Lokesh Vishnoi to the PCSTE post Makwana is vacating at North Eastern Railway, suggesting a coordinated swap between the two zones as part of the Railway Board's periodic reshuffle of senior signal engineering officers.

As PCSTE at Western Railway, Makwana will oversee signalling upgrades, safety compliance and telecommunications infrastructure across a zone handling some of the country's densest suburban and long-distance rail traffic.

The transfer takes effect as per the Railway Board's order.
