Tamil Nadu Carries Out Sweeping Reshuffle of 56 IPS Officers Across Districts

In one of the most extensive transfers of police personnel in recent months, the Tamil Nadu government has reshuffled 56 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, reconfiguring leadership across district headquarters, commissionerates, and specialised wings throughout the state. Among the key postings, E S Uma has been assigned as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) at Headquarters, Greater Chennai, while K S Balla Krisshnan assumes charge as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) heading the Cyber Crime Cell in Greater Chennai Police. S Selvaraj has been moved to the High Court Security division as DCP in Chennai. Several officers have been posted to lead district police units: S Kuthalingam to Salem, A C Karthikeyan to Tiruvannamalai, Vivekananda Shukla to Cuddalore, V V Sai Praneeth to Tiruvallur, S Jeyakumar to Dindigul, Shristi Singh to Tiruppur, and N Devanathan to Madurai — among others. Specialised postings include Dr Bhukya Sneha Priya as SP for Mayiladuthurai, Sujit Kumar as SP-I for the Cyber Crimes Division in Chennai, B K Arvind at the Q Branch, and G Nagojothi heading the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Special Investigation Cell. The reshuffle also restructured leadership within Chennai's Greater Police Commissionerate and Coimbatore City Police, with multiple DCP-level appointments aimed at streamlining traffic, law and order, and administrative functions. The scale of the exercise signals the government's intent to inject fresh momentum into law enforcement across Tamil Nadu.
