Maharashtra Reassigns Three Senior IAS Officers Across Municipal, Procurement, and Transport Bodies
Maharashtra has announced new postings for Dr. Vijay Suryawanshi, Bapu Pawar, and Mahesh Awhad in municipal and state roles.

The Maharashtra government has announced new administrative postings for three senior IAS officers, with Dr Vijay Suryawanshi appointed Municipal Commissioner of Pimpri Chinchwad, one of the state's larger urban local bodies within the Pune metropolitan region.

Bapu Pawar will now serve as Chief Executive Officer of the Maharashtra Medical Goods Procurement Authority, a body responsible for coordinating bulk procurement of medical equipment and supplies for the state's public healthcare infrastructure.

Mahesh Awhad has taken charge as Chairman and Managing Director of Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited, the public transport corporation responsible for bus services across the greater Pune metropolitan area.

Suryawanshi's Municipal Commissioner posting at Pimpri Chinchwad places him in charge of civic administration for one of Maharashtra's fastest-growing urban centres, given the area's substantial industrial base and continued residential expansion within the broader Pune metropolitan region.

Pawar's role at the Medical Goods Procurement Authority carries direct relevance to the state's public healthcare service delivery, since consistent and well-managed procurement of medical supplies directly affects the availability of essential equipment and medicines across the state's public hospital network.

Awhad's appointment at PMPML places him in charge of public bus transport serving the Pune metropolitan area's substantial commuter population, a role carrying responsibility for both operational service delivery and the corporation's financial sustainability.

The appointment orders were issued through the Maharashtra government's General Administration Department, which administers postings and transfers for the state's IAS cadre officers.
