Celebrating ITDC's 60th and The Ashok's 70th anniversaries, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat launched new tech-driven initiatives, labeling ITDC a growth engine for India's tourism ecosystem.

Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, inaugurated several high-impact initiatives at The Ashok, New Delhi, celebrating the 60th anniversary of the India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) and the 70th anniversary of The Ashok Hotel. Shekhawat highlighted ITDC's role as a 'multi-dimensional growth engine' and emphasized a re-imagination strategy tailored for the digital and metaverse age, reflecting the Viksit Bharat @2047 vision and Budget 2026's tech focus. The event launched numerous physical, digital, and institutional initiatives designed to spur growth in the hospitality sector. ITDC, established in 1966 as a Schedule ‘B’ Mini-Ratna CPSE, continues to drive market leadership via modernization. The Ashok, commissioned in 1956 and an award-winning flagship property, released a customized “My Stamp” commemorative postage stamp in partnership with the Department of Posts to honor its 70-year legacy. These stamps will function as heritage souvenirs and branding assets.
