THE NEYVELI BOOK FAIR IS A REFLECTION OF NLCIL’S APPROACH TO INCLUSIVE GROWTH, SAYS CMD PRASANNA KUMAR MOTUPALLI
The spectacular literary extravaganza, the 25th Neyveli Book Fair – 2026, concluded on a grand note with its valedictory function held on 28 June 2026. Marking its Silver Jubilee Edition, the Book Fair emerged as a resounding success, attracting more than 2 lakh book lovers, students, and visitors from Neyveli and the neighbouring districts throughout the event.
Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), NLC India Limited (NLCIL), graced the valedictory function as the Chief Guest.
The valedictory function was held at the newly rechristened “Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Hall.” As a fitting tribute to the former President of India and renowned scientist, the NLCIL Management, under the visionary leadership of its Chairman and Managing Director, Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, officially renamed the iconic “Lignite Hall” as the “Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Hall.” The dedication reflects NLCIL’s commitment to honouring the enduring legacy of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and inspiring future generations through his ideals of knowledge, innovation, and nation-building.

The event saw the active participation of NLCIL’s Functional Directors Shri Samir Swarup, Director (HR), Shri Rajesh Pratap Singh Sisodia, Director (P&P) and Power (Addl. Charge) and Thiru Appakannu Govindarajan, IPoS, Chief Vigilance Officer, NLCIL
Also present were Executive Directors, Senior Officers, NLCIL employees, representatives of Unions, Associations, SC/ST Employees Welfare Federations, Women in Public Sector (WIPS), members of the Press & Media, teachers, children, and the general public.

Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD of NLCIL, lauded the Book Fair’s Organizing Committee, led by its President, for delivering a remarkably successful event this year. He proudly noted that this edition could be said to be the finest in the Book Fair's 25-year history, setting new benchmarks for visitor turnout, student engagement, and overall facilities. He stated that, over its 10-day run, the fair attracted approximately 2 lakh visitors, including more than 65,000 students from 510 schools. Shri Motupalli pointed out that the event beautifully reflects NLCIL's core commitment to inclusive growth. Striking a personal note, he shared that this particular fair held a special place in his heart, as his own book was released on the opening day. Reminding the audience that many global leaders attribute their success to reading, he warmly encouraged the visiting children to leverage such platforms to cultivate a lifelong love for books and knowledge.
The Guests of Honour Shri Samir Swarup, Director Shri Rajesh Pratap Singh Sisodia and Thiru Appakannu Govindarajan offered their felicitations on the occasion.
To commemorate this milestone 25th edition, a special e-souvenir was released by the dignitaries. The formal function was followed by a vibrant Arts and Cultural programme presented by the talented students of Neyveli schools.
On the ninth day of the Book Fair yesterday, 27.06.2026, the literary event was presided over by Dr. Prasanna Kumar Acharya, Director (Finance). Prof. Dr. S. Mohan, Vice-Chancellor, Puducherry Technological University was the Chief Guest while Dr. Justin Joseyphus, Dean, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirapalli was the Guest of Honour. The occasion saw the traditional honouring of eminent writers and publishers. Compilations of poems and short stories written by Neyveli writers were also released.
Key Highlights & Silver Jubilee Milestones of the Neyveli Book Fair 2026
The 25th Neyveli Book Fair 2026 set a high benchmark in public engagement, literary celebration, and cultural vibrancy. Key highlights include
- Float for public awareness: A float fitted with a LED screen, streaming awareness video clips on social and public practices was put up by the Vigilance Department, attracting visitors.
- Massive Footfall: An estimated total number of around 2 Lakh people visited the Book Fair during the last 10 days.
- Student Empowerment: Entry was kept entirely free for school children, benefiting them immensely. 65,000 school children from around 510 educational institutions visited the fair in the last 10 days.
- Engaging Competitions: Around 2000 students and visitors enthusiastically participated in daily On-the-Spot competitions. Furthermore, a short film competition organized during the fair received an overwhelming 95 entries.
- Honouring Literary Minds: To promote literature, 10 eminent writers and 10 reputed publishers were formally honoured. Additionally, 17 books by both established and upcoming writers were officially released.
- BAPASI's Innovative Initiatives: Celebrating the Silver Jubilee, the Booksellers and Publishers Association of South India (BAPASI) introduced a unique scheme to honour readers. Certificates were issued daily to all visitors purchasing books worth above ₹10,000 and ₹5,000. A lucky draw was also organized for visitors, with winners taking home books as prizes.

Beyond its impressive collection of books across numerous stalls, the 25th Neyveli Book Fair – 2026 offered visitors a truly immersive and enriching family experience. A vibrant blend of daily literary sessions, interactive author engagements, creative competitions, and captivating cultural performances kept audiences of all ages engaged throughout the fair. Public awareness campaigns featuring lively cartoon character mascots added a unique touch of fun and excitement, delighting children and families alike.
Dedicated amusement zones, bustling food courts, and thoughtfully curated recreational spaces further enhanced the festive ambience, making the Book Fair a memorable destination for learning, entertainment, and togetherness. Throughout the event, the organisers accorded the highest priority to visitor safety, comfort, and seamless event management, ensuring a pleasant experience for all.
The Silver Jubilee Edition of the Neyveli Book Fair concluded on a highly successful note, leaving an enduring impression on students, children, book enthusiasts, and the general public. Once again, it reaffirmed its stature as one of the region’s most prestigious literary and cultural festivals, celebrating the joy of reading while fostering a vibrant culture of knowledge and lifelong learning.
In response to the overwhelming public enthusiasm and to provide book lovers with an extended opportunity to explore and purchase books, the Neyveli Book Fair – 2026 will remain open on Monday, 29 June 2026.
