UPSC Approves Select List; 29 UP Police Service Officers Awarded IPS

Twenty-nine officers of the Uttar Pradesh Police Service (PPS) have been awarded the Indian Police Service after the Union Public Service Commission approved the select list for the year 2025 at its recent meeting.

The PPS-to-IPS award process allows state police service officers to move into the all-India cadre after clearing eligibility criteria on seniority and service record, with the UPSC's approval of the select list being the final step before formal induction orders are issued.

The officers awarded IPS in this list include Sanjay Kumar Yadav, Kamal Kishore, Suresh Chandra Rawat, Shoeb Iqbal, Rahul Mithas, Alok Kumar Sharma, Raj Kumar, Mahesh Kumar Attri, Vineet Bhatnagar, Jitendra Kumar Srivastava, Shashi Shekhar Singh and Kuldeep Singh, among others named in the select list.

The remaining officers on the list are Gyanendra Nath Prasad, Harendra Pratap Yadav, Bansh Raj Singh Yadav, Dr Krishna Gopal, Madhuvan Kumar Singh, Kapil Deo Singh, Balawant Kumar Chaudhary, Rahul Srivastava, Rajesh Kumar Pandey, Preeti Bala Gupta, Vikash Chandra Tripathi, Purnendu Singh, Harendra Kumar, Martand Prakash Singh, Abhay Nath Tripathi, Pavitra Mohan Tripathi and Dinesh Kumar Sharma.

The award moves all 29 officers from the state police cadre into the all-India IPS cadre, opening up eligibility for central deputation, senior state postings and command roles that are reserved for IPS-rank officers.

Uttar Pradesh, with the largest police force among Indian states, regularly contributes one of the biggest annual batches to the PPS-to-IPS award list, reflecting the scale of its state police cadre.

The formal induction orders for the 29 officers are expected to follow the UPSC's approval of the select list.
