IAS Abhishek Meena Is Haryana's Youngest Collector

IAS officer Abhishek Meena, Deputy Commissioner of Rewari district, is the youngest collector currently serving in Haryana. Born in 1994, Meena belongs to the 2016 batch of the Haryana cadre.

The Deputy Commissioner, also known as the district collector, is the seniormost administrative officer in a Haryana district, responsible for revenue administration, law and order coordination with police, disaster management and the implementation of central and state welfare schemes at the district level.

Meena's rise to the DC post at this stage of his career places him among the younger cohort of IAS officers to hold full district charge, typically a milestone reached after a probationary posting as Sub-Divisional Magistrate and one or more assignments in state secretariat departments.

Rewari, located in Haryana's National Capital Region belt, is an industrial district with a significant automotive and manufacturing base, alongside its agricultural economy, giving its Deputy Commissioner a mix of urban infrastructure and rural administration responsibilities.

His appointment to Rewari reflects the routine reshuffling of district postings among Haryana cadre officers, in which the state periodically rotates its IAS officers through Deputy Commissioner charges based on seniority and administrative requirements.

As DC, Meena will be responsible for coordinating the district's response to issues ranging from land acquisition disputes tied to industrial expansion to the rollout of state welfare schemes, the standard range of duties for a Haryana district collector.

Meena, a 2016-batch officer of the Haryana cadre, currently holds charge as Deputy Commissioner of Rewari.
