Anirudh Mukerji Handed Additional Charge of Environment Department
Anirudh Mukerji takes on additional charge of the Environment Department, Environment Commissioner and Director General of EPCO.
Anirudh Mukerji, a 1993-batch IAS officer who chairs the Revenue Board in Gwalior and serves as Additional Chief Secretary of the Public Asset Management Department, has been given additional charge as Additional Chief Secretary of the Environment Department, Environment Commissioner, and Director General of EPCO (Environmental Planning and Coordination Organisation), according to the order dated June 17, 2026. The assignment is temporary, continuing alongside his existing duties until further orders. Mukerji takes over these environment-related charges from Ashok Barnwal, who is relieved of them specifically as a result, while continuing to hold his other additional responsibilities, including the Bhopal Gas Tragedy Relief and Rehabilitation Department. The order was issued by the General Administration Department and signed by Chief Secretary Anurag Jain on behalf of the Governor.
