Anjali Vishwakarma's Cadre Transferred from Uttar Pradesh to Chhattisgarh
IPS officer Anjali Vishwakarma's cadre has been shifted from Uttar Pradesh to Chhattisgarh on marriage grounds.
The cadre of IPS officer Anjali Vishwakarma has been transferred from Uttar Pradesh to Chhattisgarh, on grounds of her marriage to fellow IPS officer Udit Pushkar. Vishwakarma is a 2021-batch officer.
Inter-cadre transfers on marriage grounds are governed by the IAS and IPS cadre allocation rules, which allow officers married to each other but serving in different state cadres to apply for a transfer so both can be posted in the same state. The Ministry of Home Affairs processes such requests after clearance from both the losing and gaining state governments.
As a 2021-batch entrant, Vishwakarma is early in her IPS career, a stage typically spent on probationary district postings such as Additional Superintendent of Police or Superintendent of Police in a smaller district, before an officer is considered for specialised branches or state police headquarters roles.
Her exit from the Uttar Pradesh cadre closes out a brief tenure there since her allotment, with the state having to adjust its junior IPS deployment plan to account for one fewer officer from the 2021 batch.
The transfer places her alongside her husband, Udit Pushkar, in the Chhattisgarh cadre, consistent with the general policy intent behind marriage-ground cadre transfers, which is to avoid long-term separation between spouses serving in different all-India services cadres.
For Chhattisgarh, the move brings in an additional 2021-batch IPS officer to a state whose police force has, in recent years, been focused heavily on anti-Naxal operations in its southern districts alongside conventional law and order duties.
The transfer was cleared by the Ministry of Home Affairs, with Vishwakarma to be allotted a district or wing posting in Chhattisgarh following the change of cadre.
