Chhattisgarh Government Reshuffles Two Dozen IPS Officers

The Chhattisgarh government has reshuffled as many as two dozen IPS officers, one of the state's larger administrative reorderings this year, according to an order issued by the state home department.

The reshuffle touches senior IG-rank postings as well as district-level Superintendent of Police charges across the state. Range-level IG postings determine command over multi-district police zones, while SP-rank officers head district police forces responsible for law and order, crime investigation and coordination with the district administration.

At the range level, Ajay Kumar Yadav moves from Director, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose State Police Academy, Chandkhuri, to Inspector General (IG) of Rajnandgaon Range. Balaji Rao Somavar, who held the Rajnandgaon Range IG post, has been posted as IG, Police Headquarters (PHQ), Naya Raipur, while Prashant Kumar Agrawal moves from IG, Bastar Range, to IG, PHQ.

At the district level, Sunil Sharma takes charge as SP, Sarangarh-Bilaigarh; Chandramohan Singh as SP, Dantewada; Harish Rathore as SP, Koriya; Bhawna Pandey as SP, Dhamtari; Trilok Bansal as SP, Bemetara; and Jitendra Kumar Yadav as SP, Kabirdham. Chavhan Kiran Gangaram takes over as SP, Balod; Yogesh Kumar Patel as SP, Surajpur; Rai Gaurav Rampravesh as SP, Balodabazar-Bhatapara; Umesh Prasad Gupta as SP, Bijapur; and Sandeep Kumar Patel as SP, Narayanpur. Robinson Guria has been posted as DCP (West), Raipur Urban.

Among DIG and headquarters postings, Prashant Kumar Thakur and Ramkrishna Sahu have been transferred as DIG, PHQ, Naya Raipur; Dharmendra Chhabai as Commandant, 8th Battalion, Special Armed Force (SAF), Rajnandgaon; Shweta Rajmani as DIG, SAF, Jagdalpur, Bastar; Rajesh Kukreja as DIG, PHQ; Bhavna Gupta as Assistant Inspector General (AIG), PHQ; Suraj Singh Parihar as Commandant, 4th Battalion, SAF, Mana, Raipur; and Ravi Kumar Kurre as AIG, PHQ.

The scale of the exercise, covering IG, DIG, Commandant and SP-rank postings in a single order, points to a broader realignment of the state's district and range-level policing command. Such large-scale reshuffles typically follow a review of law-and-order performance and postings due for rotation under service norms.

All postings take effect immediately, as per the order issued by the Chhattisgarh home department.
