Arshinder Singh Chawla Gets Additional Charge of DG Prisons, Haryana

Arshinder Singh Chawla, a 1993-batch IPS officer of the Haryana cadre and Director General of Police, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, has been given additional charge of Director General, Prisons, Panchkula.

The Prisons department in Haryana oversees the state's jail administration, including custodial management, inmate welfare and coordination with the judiciary on undertrial matters. The additional charge arrangement allows the department to function under senior leadership while a regular incumbent is identified for the post on a full-time basis.

Chawla continues to head the state's Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, the agency responsible for investigating corruption cases against government officials in Haryana, alongside his new prisons charge.

Additional charge postings of this kind are common in Haryana's IPS cadre when a vacancy arises at the DG level and a suitable permanent posting remains under consideration by the state government.

The order was issued by the Haryana government and takes effect immediately, with Chawla holding both charges concurrently until further orders.
