IAS Officer R. Ishwarya Appointed Commissioner of Nagercoil City Corporation

Mrs. R. Ishwarya, a 2020-batch IAS officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre, has been posted as Commissioner of the Corporation of Nagercoil. She moves from her previous role as Additional Collector (Development) and Project Officer of the District Rural Development Agency in Thoothukudi. Ishwarya's appointment fills the vacancy created by the transfer of Nishant Krishna, who has moved to the Sivagangai District Collectorate. Her transition from a rural development posting to a city corporation reflects the varied administrative breadth Tamil Nadu officers accumulate across cadre postings. The Corporation of Nagercoil, in Kanyakumari district at the southern tip of Tamil Nadu, is one of the state's active urban local bodies. The Commissioner oversees civic infrastructure, municipal finances, sanitation, and urban service delivery. Ishwarya takes charge as many Tamil Nadu urban local bodies push through infrastructure and service upgrades.
