Madhya Pradesh Reshuffles 26 Senior IAS Officers in Late-Evening Order

The Madhya Pradesh government issued transfer orders for 26 senior IAS officers late on Sunday evening, one of the state's more extensive administrative reshuffles in recent months, touching tourism, tribal development, health, home affairs, and several public sector undertakings.

Among the more prominent moves, T Elaiyaraj has been assigned to the Tourism Department, Tarun Rathi has been designated Commissioner for Tribal Development, and S Dhanaraju takes over as Health Commissioner, placing experienced officers across departments that carry direct public-facing service delivery responsibilities.

At the senior secretariat level, Shivshekhar Shukla, a 1994-batch officer, has been named Additional Chief Secretary for the Home and Culture Department, one of the more consequential portfolios in this round given Home's overlap with law-and-order coordination and Culture's role in the state's tourism and heritage initiatives. Umakant Umrao, from the 1996 batch, moves to Principal Secretary for Animal Husbandry and Dairy, while Shobhit Jain, 2000-batch, takes charge as Principal Secretary for the AYUSH Department.

The reshuffle also reached deeper into the 2007-2011 batch range, where several officers were assigned specialised or public sector charges: John Kingsley A R as Secretary for Horticulture and Food Processing, Shreeman Shukla for Planning and Statistics, and Swatantra Kumar Singh to lead the Fishermen Welfare and Fisheries Development Department. Vishesh Garhpale was named Managing Director of MP Power Management Company in Jabalpur, while Alok Kumar Singh takes on the Secretary to the Chief Minister role with additional charge of the Mineral Resources Department, positioning him close to the state's top executive office alongside a resource-heavy departmental portfolio.

Further down the order, Anay Dwivedi was posted as Commissioner for Commercial Tax in Indore, Anurag Chaudhary as Managing Director of MP Fisheries Federation, Neha Marvya Singh as Additional Secretary for Tribal Affairs, and Gautam Singh as Commissioner for the MP Housing and Infrastructure Development Board, rounding out a reshuffle that spans nearly the full range of the state's mid-to-senior IAS cadre by seniority.

The scale and late-evening timing of the order is consistent with the pattern Madhya Pradesh has followed for its larger periodic reshuffles, typically issued in a single consolidated batch covering officers across multiple unrelated departments rather than staggered individual transfers.
