Manish Agarwal, IRSME Officer, Takes Charge as General Manager of Integral Coach Factory Chennai

Manish Agarwal, an officer of the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers, has been appointed General Manager of the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, one of the world's largest railway coach manufacturing facilities.

ICF's General Manager position carries responsibility for overseeing production targets, quality control, and workforce management at a facility that plays a central role in Indian Railways' passenger coach supply chain, manufacturing conventional coaches alongside newer rolling stock designs.

Agarwal's appointment comes as ICF works to scale up output to meet rising demand for Vande Bharat trainsets and other modern rolling stock, a production priority that has intensified as Indian Railways has expanded the Vande Bharat network across additional routes in recent years.

As an Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers officer, Agarwal brings rolling stock design and manufacturing expertise directly relevant to leading a coach production facility of ICF's scale, particularly given the technical demands of ramping up newer, more complex train-set manufacturing alongside conventional coach production.

ICF's production capacity has faced sustained pressure given the pace of Vande Bharat rollout across the network, meaning the incoming General Manager inherits both the operational challenge of meeting expanded output targets and maintaining quality standards across an increasingly diverse product range.
