Mukesh Chandra Gupta Moved as Principal Secretary, Jail Department

Mukesh Chandra Gupta, a 1998-batch IAS officer, has been transferred as Principal Secretary of Madhya Pradesh's Jail Department, according to a General Administration Department order issued on June 17, 2026. Gupta moves from his earlier posting as Secretary of the MP Human Rights Commission in Bhopal. He will continue to hold an additional charge as Member of the Revenue Board in Gwalior, a responsibility he already carried before this transfer. The posting takes effect immediately and remains in place "until further orders," the standard language used in Madhya Pradesh transfer notifications. Gupta takes over the Jail Department from Manish Singh, a 2009-batch officer who had been managing it as an additional charge alongside his substantive role as Secretary of the Transport Department. With Gupta now in place, Singh is relieved of the jail portfolio while retaining his other assignments, including Managing Director of the MP State Road Transport Corporation. The transfer is one of 29 individual IAS postings issued in the same order, alongside five separate additional-charge assignments for senior officers.
