NLC INDIA LIMITED SUCCESSFULLY COMMISSIONS ENTIRE 300 MW SOLAR POWER PROJECT AT BARSINGSAR, RAJASTHAN

NLC India Limited (NLCIL), a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Coal, Government of India, has successfully commissioned the entire 300 MW capacity of its Barsingsar Solar Power Project located at Barsingsar village, Bikaner District, Rajasthan. The 300 MW project has been developed under the CPSU (Central Public Sector Undertaking) Scheme of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India. While the first phase of the project with 52.83 MW was commissioned in August 2025, in the second phase, 106 MW of the project was declared commercially operational in November 2025. The commissioning of the balance capacity now marks the completion of one of the largest solar power projects implemented by NLCIL. With the commissioning of the full 300 MW capacity, NLC India Limited’s total renewable energy installed capacity has increased to 1,766 MW, while the Company’s overall installed power generation capacity now stands at 7,726 MW, further strengthening its position as a key contributor to India’s clean energy transition. The Barsingsar Solar Power Project has been developed using domestically manufactured, high-efficiency solar PV modules, in line with the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, promoting indigenous manufacturing and reducing dependence on imports. The project contributes meaningfully to India’s vision of Viksit Bharat by supporting sustainable growth, energy security, and climate action. The entire power generated from the project will be supplied to the State of Rajasthan, augmenting the State’s renewable energy mix and supporting national renewable energy targets. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director, NLC India Limited, said: “The successful commissioning of the entire 300 MW Barsingsar Solar Power Project is a significant milestone in NLC India Limited’s renewable energy journey. This project reflects our strong execution capabilities, commitment to clean energy, and alignment with national priorities under the MNRE’s CPSU Scheme. By deploying high-efficiency, domestically manufactured solar modules, we are actively supporting Atmanirbhar Bharat while contributing to India’s transition towards a sustainable and resilient energy future. NLCIL remains committed to expanding its renewable portfolio and playing a pivotal role in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat.” The successful commissioning of the project was also acknowledged by the Hon’ble Union Minister of Coal & Mines, Government of India Shri G. Kishan Reddy, in a post on social media, lauding NLC India Limited for commissioning the entire 300 MW Barsingsar Solar Power Project, noting it as a significant step towards strengthening India’s clean energy transition in line with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, while promoting Atmanirbhar Bharat, sustainability, and energy security. NLC India Limited continues to pursue a balanced and calibrated energy transition strategy, strengthening conventional energy assets while aggressively expanding its renewable and green energy portfolio, including solar, wind, and emerging technologies. The commissioning of the Barsingsar project reinforces NLCIL’s resolve to be a reliable, responsible, and future-ready energy major.
