Pramod Kumar Choudhary Gets Additional Charge of CVO, BSNL
TCIL's CVO Pramod Kumar Choudhary has been given additional charge of the Chief Vigilance Officer post at BSNL for six months.
Pramod Kumar Choudhary, Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of Telecommunications Consultants India Ltd. (TCIL) in Delhi, has been entrusted with the additional charge of CVO at Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL), Delhi, for a period of six months.
The CVO's post at any public sector undertaking is a statutory vigilance appointment reporting to the Central Vigilance Commission, tasked with monitoring procurement, contracts and internal complaints for corruption or procedural lapses, making it independent of the company's regular management chain.
Choudhary is a 1998-batch officer of the Indian Railway Stores Service (IRSS), a service that typically produces officers with procurement and materials-management expertise, background that aligns with the vigilance function's focus on scrutinising tenders and contracts.
Running the vigilance function at two PSUs simultaneously, TCIL and now BSNL, concentrates oversight responsibility for both telecom entities under one officer for the duration of the additional charge.
BSNL has been undergoing a phased revival push, including 4G rollout and asset monetisation, all of which routes significant procurement volume through the vigilance office for scrutiny.
The six-month tenure suggests the arrangement is intended as a stop-gap measure pending a substantive appointment to the BSNL CVO post.
The additional charge takes effect immediately and is expected to run for six months from the date of the order.
