Saleem Ahmad Gets Additional Charge as CMD, IRCON
RVNL CMD Saleem Ahmad has taken additional charge as CMD of IRCON International for one year, effective from July 1, 2026.
Saleem Ahmad, Chairman and Managing Director of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), has assumed additional charge as CMD of IRCON International for one year, effective July 1, 2026.
IRCON is a railway-ministry PSU specialising in infrastructure construction, including rail lines, highways and international projects, and pairing its leadership with RVNL's CMD brings the two railway-construction entities under a single executive for the duration of the arrangement.
Ahmad has led RVNL, itself responsible for a large share of new railway line construction and electrification projects across the country, and his additional charge at IRCON extends his oversight to that company's domestic and overseas project portfolio.
The one-year additional charge suggests the arrangement is intended to hold the post pending a substantive CMD appointment at IRCON rather than as a permanent merger of leadership.
Both RVNL and IRCON compete for and often work alongside each other on railway infrastructure tenders, giving Ahmad direct oversight of two entities operating in overlapping segments of the sector.
IRCON has an active portfolio of international projects, including lines in African and South Asian markets, alongside its domestic railway construction work, adding to the scope of Ahmad's additional responsibilities.
The additional charge takes effect from July 1, 2026, and is expected to run for one year.
