Satya Yesubabu Appointed DIG, CISF

B Satya Yesubabu has been appointed Deputy Inspector General in the Central Industrial Security Force on deputation. He is a 2011-batch IPS officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre.

CISF provides armed security cover to a wide range of installations, including airports, metro systems, nuclear and space facilities, and private sector establishments designated as critical infrastructure — a mandate that has expanded steadily over the past decade.

State cadre IPS officers typically move to CISF and other central armed police forces on deputation at the DIG level after roughly 15 years of service, a stage at which they have usually held district or range-level charges in their home cadre.

CISF's expanding mandate has in recent years extended to securing new metro rail systems and select private establishments, broadening the range of postings available to officers on deputation from the IPS.

Yesubabu's move from the Andhra Pradesh cadre to a central deputation post is part of the routine rotation through which state IPS officers gain experience in central force command before either returning to their home cadre or pursuing further central postings.

As DIG, his responsibilities will depend on the specific unit or installation he is assigned to oversee within CISF's force structure, which is organised into zones and sector commands across the country.

The appointment is on a deputation basis, as per the order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
