Speculation Surrounds Voluntary Retirement of IAS Officer Anamika Singh

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has approved the voluntary retirement (VR) of Anamika Singh, a 2004-batch IAS officer from the Uttar Pradesh cadre. While the approval is formal, there is significant discussion within bureaucratic circles regarding the reasons behind her resignation. Sources suggest that Ms. Singh had requested a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the UP Government for central deputation, which was reportedly denied. Further dissatisfaction reportedly arose when her transfer order as Divisional Commissioner of Bareilly in September 2025 was cancelled, retaining her as Food Commissioner. The combination of the denied deputation and the cancelled transfer is believed to have prompted her decision.
