Supreme Court to Expand Bench Strength from 34 to 38 Judges
India's Supreme Court bench strength is being raised from 34 to 38 judges, following a February letter from CJI Justice Suryakant seeking the enhancement.
The sanctioned strength of the Supreme Court of India is set to rise from 34 to 38 judges, marking a notable reinforcement of the country's apex judicial institution. The expansion is widely attributed to the advocacy of Chief Justice of India, Justice Suryakant, who is reported to have formally written to the government in February, urging an increase in judicial strength to address the court's mounting workload and ensure timely delivery of justice.
