Tamil Nadu Transfers Two Senior IPS Officers, A. Arun Named ADGP, TNPA
Tamil Nadu transfers two senior IPS officers; A. Arun moves to ADGP, Tamil Nadu Police Academy.
The Tamil Nadu government has transferred two senior IPS officers, with A. Arun, a 1998-batch officer who was Additional Director General of Police and Director, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption in Chennai, posted as ADGP, Tamil Nadu Police Academy, Chennai. The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption is the state's principal agency for investigating corruption cases against public servants, while the Tamil Nadu Police Academy is responsible for training officers entering the state police force, making both charges central to the functioning of the state's police administration. C. Mageshwari, a 2004-batch officer who was Inspector General of Police, Special Investigation Cell-I at the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, has been given full additional charge of the ADGP, Director Vigilance and Anti-Corruption post vacated by Arun. Arun's move from an active anti-corruption investigative charge to the training academy represents a shift from field investigation to institutional training responsibilities within the state cadre. Mageshwari's additional charge keeps continuity at the vigilance directorate while a permanent successor to the ADGP post is decided, a common practice in state-level transfers involving sensitive investigative charges. The transfers were ordered by the Tamil Nadu government and take immediate effect.
