Assam Issues Fresh Postings for Three IPS Officers, Including New SP for Barpeta
Assam reassigns three IPS officers: Pushkin Jain is posted as SP Barpeta, Harekrishna Nath as SP CID, and Anshul Singh as Additional SP Crime in Goalpara.
The Assam government has issued new postings for three IPS officers, with Pushkin Jain assuming the role of Superintendent of Police in Barpeta district.
Harekrishna Nath has been named the new SP for the Criminal Investigation Department's White Collar Crime wing, a specialised unit handling financial fraud, corporate crime, and other economic offence investigations that require dedicated investigative expertise beyond standard district-level policing capacity.
Anshul Singh takes charge as Additional Superintendent of Police, Crime, in Goalpara district, a posting carrying responsibility for coordinating criminal investigation functions within the district alongside the district's Superintendent of Police.
District SP postings such as Jain's Barpeta assignment carry direct administrative and operational responsibility for law and order, crime prevention, and coordination with other district administrative machinery on security-related matters within the district's jurisdiction.
The White Collar Crime wing within Assam's CID structure has grown in relevance as financial fraud cases, including investment scams and banking fraud, have become more prevalent, requiring officers with specific expertise in financial investigation techniques distinct from conventional criminal investigation methods.
Assam's police department periodically reshuffles district and specialised wing postings to align officer placements with current law-and-order priorities and vacancy availability across the state's IPS cadre structure, with this round covering three distinct functional areas: general district policing, specialised economic crime investigation, and district-level crime coordination.
The postings were issued through the Assam Home Department, which administers transfers and postings for the state's IPS cadre officers.
