IRSME officer Wasnik Gunjankumar Dhananjay selected as General Manager, Braithwaite & Co. Ltd., Raipur, on five-year deputation from South East Central Railway.
Wasnik Gunjankumar Dhananjay, an officer of the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME), has been selected for deputation to Braithwaite & Co. Ltd. (BCL) as its General Manager at Raipur for a period of five years. Currently posted as Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer (Coaching & Workshop) at the Headquarters of South East Central Railway (SECR), Dhananjay brings extensive mechanical engineering and railway operations expertise to his new role. His appointment to BCL, a public sector company under the Ministry of Railways, marks a significant transition from a railway department position to the helm of a manufacturing and engineering enterprise. Braithwaite & Co. Ltd. is one of India's oldest engineering companies, historically associated with the manufacture of railway wagons and bridges. The company, headquartered in Kolkata with its manufacturing operations at Raipur, plays a role in the supply chain for Indian Railways' infrastructure and rolling stock requirements. As General Manager, Dhananjay will be responsible for overseeing BCL's production operations, commercial functions, workforce management, and strategic direction at the Raipur facility. The five-year deputation tenure provides a stable horizon for meaningful operational improvements and project delivery. His transition from SECR to BCL exemplifies the Railway Ministry's approach of deploying senior domain experts from the services into PSU leadership roles, leveraging their technical grounding in the railway ecosystem.
