ICF-Based IRSME Officer Ankit Deputed as Dy. CME at Konkan Railway

Ankit, an Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME) officer presently serving as Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer/Furnishing-II at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, has been selected for a three-year deputation to Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. (KRCL) as Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer (Dy. CME) at its Corporate Office in Belapur. The deputation marks a shift from one of Indian Railways' premier coach manufacturing facilities to a distinctive railway corporation known for its challenging mountain terrain operations along the western coast of India. KRCL operates the iconic Konkan Railway route, renowned for its engineering complexity — featuring numerous tunnels, bridges, and curved gradients — and is regarded as one of the more technically demanding railway corridors in the country. In his new role, Ankit will be responsible for the mechanical engineering functions at KRCL's corporate level, contributing to rolling stock maintenance, fleet management decisions, and technical oversight of operations along the Konkan route. His background at ICF, where coaches for Indian Railways are designed and manufactured, provides him with a robust foundation in rolling stock engineering — expertise directly applicable to KRCL's operational requirements. The three-year deputation term will offer Ankit an opportunity to contribute to one of India's most celebrated railway projects while broadening his experience beyond the manufacturing environment into field operations and corporate management.
