Manoj Kumar Sharma to Lead Mumbai's Law and Order as Joint CP

The IPS officer whose remarkable journey inspired the blockbuster film 12th Fail is set to take on a pivotal new role in India's financial capital. Manoj Kumar Sharma has been appointed as Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Mumbai — one of the most high-profile positions in the city's policing hierarchy. A 2005-batch IPS officer of the Maharashtra cadre, Sharma brings extensive metropolitan policing experience to the role. He previously served as DCP Zone 1 and later as Additional Commissioner of Police (West Region) in Mumbai. He has also held a posting with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Sharma's extraordinary story — from a humble background to cracking the UPSC examination — captured national imagination and was depicted in the widely celebrated film 12th Fail, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. His appointment to lead law and order operations in Mumbai adds yet another chapter to what has already become an inspiring career.
