Akhilesh Kumar Srivastava, an officer of the Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers, has been permanently absorbed in the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited, with his technical resignation from railway service accepted with effect from July 21, 2026.
DFCCIL is the public sector undertaking building and operating India's dedicated freight rail corridors, separate high-capacity tracks meant to move goods trains without competing for path with passenger services. Absorption into DFCCIL means an officer gives up his lien on the parent railway service and becomes a regular employee of the corporation rather than an official on deputation.
As an IRSEE officer, Srivastava's background would have been in electrical traction, signalling-adjacent power systems and overhead equipment maintenance on the Indian Railways network, the core technical function his service is responsible for.
His technical resignation formally severs his lien on the Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers, a step officers typically take only once they are confident of continued long-term employment within DFCCIL rather than intending to return to railway service.
The move fits a broader pattern of railway officers opting for permanent absorption in DFCCIL as the corporation's eastern and western dedicated freight corridors have moved from construction into full operational phase, requiring a stable technical workforce rather than officers rotating back to zonal railways.
